I am an oilers fan too. I believe what you are saying is surely possible and I share the feeling. The game felt great for fans and players. But we still have to wait and see. You can tell we just came off playing more competitive, i.e. better, teams. We played the Penguins like they were the Canes and that's why it was destruction. the NHL is so competitive now. Most teams are at a higher level than Penguins. So let's see how we fare against teams at a higher level. Last year we had amazing speical teams and PK. My hope is, as our offense kicks in, we become a stronger in all situations/5 on 5. Go oilers.

The Oilers looked rested, eager and on a mission to do well with 2 more Oilers alumni getting honoured...Pens honestly looked tired, like a team that has been on the road too long. We have all seen them play MUCH better. Blomqvist is the only reason it was respectable...That said, we will gladly take it..There will be nights when it is the Oilers who look tired. All the ebb and flow of the season...That is why it is important to not get up too much after this win..OR...too down when they are 2--4...

@@ash3nde4th96 Idk man in that one frame, you can't even clearly see the puck completely over the blue line, yet the oiler players skate is noticeably over the blue line. Even if they were able to tell the puck was millimeters over the blue line, the skate being much more over the blue line really tells you all you need to know. IMO an awful call

They didn't want to upset McDavid again with how long time it takes to get an offside reviews right 🤷♂
@thaneoffife69043 ай бұрын
@@SocietalRants The only thing I can think is that they didn't consider his skate to be completely over the line. While the tip was across the line it likes the back half of the skate, although in the air, hasn't completely crossed the "plane" (which extends from the leading edge of the blue line upwards) the instant the puck completely crossed the line. The rule states: "A player is on-side when either of his skates are - "on his own side of the line", at the instant the puck completely crosses the leading edge of the blue line. "On his own side of the line" shall be defined by a “plane” of the blue line which shall extend from the leading edge of the blue line upwards. If a player’s skate has yet to break the “plane” prior to the puck completely crossing the leading edge, he is deemed to be on-side for the purpose of the off-side rule." I guess the NHL decided that all parts of the skates must be completely across the plane for it to be considered broken hence the play would be onside. Edit: it looks pretty offside from the view provided for the highlight. But because of the parallax effect it isn't a good view to judge when both the puck or the skate crossed the line. The live game feed provided a much better angle which seems to show the back half of the skate not being fully across the "plane" the instant the puck crossed the line.
