The reason the Leafs can't score in the postseason is because they don't have a defender who can be nominated for the Norris Trophy. The fact that MO#44 is a top defender is already a problem. If we assume that the shot power of Evan Bouchard or Mattias Ekholm is 100, MO#44 is at 25. Even if the balance between offense and defense is poor, it's still a good thing that they've made it to the playoffs. Matthews is not personally to blame.

1:50 I loved this goal. Really put his star qualities on display and showed he can score in more ways than just in tight, off rebounds, or from point blank. The way he saw the play developing from behind the net before anybody else, calling for the puck before even getting into position, transitioning from front to back into the perfect spot to receive a pass and quick shot, and then his complete bomb of and shot with such accuracy giving the goalie zero chance. I mean even as a viewer on TV, you wondered how it was even possible for the puck to bulge the twine so quickly after leaving his stick

Matthews is a smart guy. He put all his effort in the regular season to justify his contract then disappear in the playoff. He's not quite the team player but that a clever way to make tons of moneys despite not being that good.

A player who ‘isn’t good’ would not be able to score 69 goals. Amazing players haven’t even scored 60+. You also need to win regular season games to make the playoffs so your logic is kinda whack. He isn’t a playoff juggernaut like Mackinnon or McDavid, but he is still good in the playoffs. His playoff stats just doesn’t indicate a 69 goal scorer, but it still indicates a good player.

Mcdavid and now beadard are the best shots possibly ever in hockey. Goalies can't read the shot coming off their sticks and it drives them nuts because they can't do anything about it... Both those guys also broke their wrist around 12 and had to re learn how to shoot after.

Matthews shot isn't anything special for top NHL forwards. His ability to find open ice and to know where he is and exactly where he needs to put the puck for a shot on net without looking and giving away that he is gonna shoot is what makes him special.
