I feel really bad for the Buffalo Sabres fan base. Eichel, Reinhart, Dahlin, Power, Quinn, Cozens, and Mittelstadt have all been drafted by this team, and players like O'Reilly, Hall, Kane, and Montour have passed through during the last 8 years. All this just to be in the exact same spot you were 8 years ago.

Leafs got JT and then built the franchise around 34. They kept shuffling JT linemates for 34 whenever 34 hit the slump. They also gave 34 most of the offensive zone faceoffs and power plays time. That boosted 34 stats on goals and plus minus while masking his weakness in the defensive zone. That's why Leafs play like a team and won more games without 34 in the line up. Games that Leafs doesn't have a lot of offensive zone time, 34 is a ghost. Which is what we saw in the playoff the past years.

Im sorry, I cant share the excitement. This should have been a breeze for the leafs and it became a huge fight. Nearly 40 million on the first line, nearly 30 on the 2nd, what the hell is going on with this team. Its like they dont even care about the playoffs anymore. 3 different coaches, same bull pucky. No such thing as a "breeze" game in the professional sports. But I agree the Leafs could have made it easier on themselves by scoring on their legitimate chances. Bad finishing and low scoring is still an issue. Leafs realistically could have had 9-10 goals tonight.

I feel as if Tavares' potential was stunted with the Islanders. With the Leafs he seems to do alright. Could have been such an all-star with better teams. I remember the hype about him before he was drafted.

Tavares is top 60 ALL TIME in goals and top 75 in points. I'd say that's a pretty stellar career. He is three goals behind "superstar" and first ballot hall of famer Patrick Kane with 120 fewer games played.
