Most people kind of glossed over how big a gamechanger an in form Hertl and adding some dangerous left handed shooting forwards if Dorofeyev and Olofsson pan out could be for their powerplay. Hertl's an elite net front presence when healthy (and never got fully going in the short amount of time he was there last year; literally didn’t play in a game that Stone, his linemate, played in before the playoffs) and it's way easier to defend a PP when you have few if any great left handed shooting forwards; now they might have 2.

@@brianhum8765I’ve been saying this to everyone. Adding the left handed shooters on the PP is huge. All our other big PP guys are righty’s . Eichel, Stone, Pietrangelo , etc .

I am always going to be a Hertl fan. I thought he was the captain of the sharks last season with Couture out. Hertl implied he never even asked for the trade but he did approve it. From a sharks POV either the knights were the only buyer at the time and / or the sharks were afraid of Hertls injury so much they traded two 3rd round picks as insurance for the knights. Since the sharks are bad that is like two very late second round picks. I am happy Hertl seems to have healed. I am not happy about the 2 extra third round picks in the trade but with his injury and getting cap space in return I get why. The Hertl contract was bad for the sharks the moment they gave it to him. The team was not good enough he was going to make any difference to a cup. 8 mill of cap room can be traded for a profit yearly. Some teams will give up something real good for cap room. Some bad teams pay out big contracts and still are bad making it pointless since some stay there. Either way I thought the moment the trade was over Hertl could be a point per game player if healthy and used right and I still think that. I saw a knights ice interview with him after the 1st period I forget and you just see how much he loves to play hockey in how he talks. I hope he has that point per game season. If Askarov is good both teams can win in this trade.
