Perfectly said. That was brutal but any big hockey fan owes it to the players who give up 2/3 of their year for us to watch them. They are people, too, and he was a wonderful person. I hope the gaudreaus were able to enjoy this moment and keep it with them as a show of the kids they raised and how he changed the game for undersized players. Johnny will be a pioneer in hockey legacy as one of the first players in the salary cap era who was a star despite being small. Johnny I hope that 13 sits in the saddledome sooner rather than later and I hope you are smiling knowing the impact you had on not just the game of hockey but the people who watched you, loved you, and were the closest to you. I cried when I first watched this and had to come here to comment. I still can’t believe he’s gone, it doesn’t feel real. It’s just so sad to see him gone, he was such a respected player. I watched him live many times for the flames and already loved to see him score or assist, he always played his heart out. I have so much hate for the drunk bastard that took Johnny and Matt away from the world and their families. I cried watching that flag be raised, and seeing the players and family get emotional, he’s now immortalized in that arena and he deserves it, he was a great player loved by all. And don’t forget Matt, he may not have been famous but he’s still an innocent soul who’s greatly missed by his friends and family. RIP to both these men, I’m not religious but I genuinely hope with all my heart that they’re in a better place waiting to be reunited with their family one day. Always be sure to appreciate your friends and family, you never know when will be the last time you see them.
