As a Caps fan, this is not a shocking outcome. We are nowhere to be ready to compete with teams like Winnipeg and Edmonton (the 5-0 thrashing was despicable). After the Jets game, I said that game should shut up the Caps fans hoping for a playoff berth. This game is the nail in the coffin confirms that the Caps will not make the playoffs this year. We are entering the rebuild phase of the franchise. Seeing these lopsided losses in the future will be more commonplace over the next few years. I am okay with the fact that the Caps won't be in the playoffs to embarrass themselves either in a first (very likely) or second round (likely) exit.
