Wow, that was a rollercoaster of emotions. You know, after the dominant showing L.A. produced over the first twenty minutes, and coming out of it down a goal, I suspected that it would just be one of those games. L.A. would chase the whole game, and ultimately fall short. One of those things stood true, but somehow, someway, unexpected heroics in overtime denied the latter. I've been especially pleased with Dubois since the All Star break. 4 points in four games for him, and he's looked like the best forward for the Kings over the last week. A terrific turnaround for him, that has helped lead L.A. to 3 wins in those 4 games. He's looked more alert and involve both offensively and defensively, and with guys like Kempe, Kopi, Fiala all snoozing a bit, it makes a world of difference. I can't neglect Byfield either. Byfield has elevated his game as well, and him and Dubois have been the best two forwards for the Kings over the last 4 games. Is it unexpected? Sure, but is it welcomed? Absolutely. It's been awesome to see the formerly labeled "bust" prove everyone wrong, and I can't help but root for Dubois. I really want to see him flourish and be the guy he used to be. NOW, to the most important part of this game: The ending. I have unwavering faith in the Kings penalty kill. It's been the only part of their game that has remained unchanged throughout the season, but when Pasta drew that penalty on Clarke, I assumed the worst. I was happy with the point, but the way the game was going, I wouldn't put it past L.A. if they lost. It was easy to blame Clarke, but he's young, and rookies make mistakes, so I wasn't mad. Of course, L.A. did what they do best, and they killed the penalty immaculately, and as they do so, Clarke exits the penalty box right as Danault intercepts a Boston pass. Danault then springs Clarke for the breakaway, and Clarke makes no mistake. He undresses Ullmark, for his first career goal, and it's a beauty. It's a walk off overtime winner for the 21 year old defenseman. I couldn't have asked for a better ending. Anyway, that's my thoughts on the game. I apologize for the novel, but I appreciate any of you who took the time to read all of it. I do love to talk, or write, I guess. 😅 Hard not to with a game as exciting as this one was. Go Kings Go!

Great comment.i I'd add this: TOI more evenly distributed results in extra energy from all players. I btched and moaned about this for few years now, new coach knows what trust does to the team as a whole. You simply can't play some players half the game at the expense of others. If you are worth 8 mil a year, show it in the TOI you're allowed with others. Giving everyone roughly same TOI pays always huge dividends, assuming they all leave it all out there

Crazy how big a difference maker Dubois can be when he feels like playing hard, using his size, and being defensively responsible. Hopefully being in the thick of the playoff race brings that out of him the rest of the way, because he could he the best #3 center in the league by far down the stretch.

Kings at the beginning of the year had no Cup chance despite the hot start. No 1C, no 1D, no 1G (nor a real backup). Now Byfield showing 1C, from getting Dubois going to backchecking Geekie late in 3rd period. Clarke emerging (not yet 1D) but the Kings have such a solid corps (Doughty solid, Anderson decent, Gavrikov and Roy both solid, Spence a little iffy, Englund role player, but Clarke doing things). Rittich playing some games like a 1C and Talbot shifting down should be a decent backup goalie. Arvidsson adding a spark, Dubois doing some things, rest of the forwards still doing their things. About 20 more games like this and we may have a chance to go past 1st round and possibly later.

The fight didn't happen because LA was celebrating in the crease. That's the easy take. The fight happened because Boston wanted to send a message right away when LA scored. McAvoy took a shot at Anderson-Dolan before he could get up off the ice, knowing a scrum would ensue and create an opportunity for Frederic to go bully mode. It blew up in his face as he lost the fight, trying unsuccessfully to club away at Englund's arm. If Frederic wins that fight, the whole game is different. Not sure it justifies the last month and a half of Englund being in the lineup, but it definitely got him my 3rd star of the game.

@@themodprosbros6373 Very fair question. My opinion is that 90% of the time in 2024, it doesn't make any difference at all who "wins," and in fact most of the time there is no winner. This one instance really stuck out to me, because it reminded me of the old days where a wily, veteran team would have a smaller player start a scrum at the exact moment the other team was grabbing momentum, and then their toughest player would trounce somebody. Momentum squashed, and instead of celebrating, that other team is now sheepish and on their heels all night.

What? Fixed? If it's fixed then the Bruins would have won. NHL doesn't care about the Kings. They want all the major teams like Boston to win and get exposure while pounding teams like the Kings or Ducks. Get off your Bruin colored glasses. The Kings rookie scored a gem of a goal off coming out of the penalty box. The Bruins had a power play and couldn't score in OT. How much more biased are you? 😂

@@brendenrodgers7821 He was not pushed into the goalie. Because they had contact does not allow him to continue deeper into the crease. The contact was incidental.
