James was a bit like Jimmy White, a clutch player. Fantastic when he was on form.

TY for these uploads ST Snooker! I think this is a case of a bit of an opportunity missed for Steve James. Cliff only made two 50+ plus breaks in the whole match, and they both came in the same frame! Kind of sums up Steve James snooker career. With one sole exception (1990 Mercantile Credit Classic), his was a career of losing the really big matches - 8 ranking semi-finals played of which he only won one. Given how good he was in full flow that is a poor record for his talent.

59:03 I'm sorry, but was it more common back then for a Brit to use the word _soccer_ ?? I'm Canadian, so this is normal, but it sounded weird when he said it. I thought this was a touchy subject with the British people? Perhaps it was a less taboo thing to say back then? I realise it simply comes from the word _association_ in association football. So was the word football more designated to rugby back then?

Cliff Thorburn often bored his opponents to defeat. He takes so much time thinking nearly every shot and then spends almost as long feathering. Still, loved the late 80s to middle 90s era. Current era does not come close. Snooker was a huge TV sport back then.

Steve James is one of snooker's sad cases. Snooker made him wealthy, but he blew the lot, and eventually was made bankrupt
