1988 was the last season the Falcons wore red at home. They wore white jerseys at home in 1989. Then switched to black jerseys in 1990.

Throughout the 80s after Leeman Bennett was wrongly released as coach, the team was loaded with top round draft picks and experienced talent, but stayed in the NFC West basement. Hard luck and injuries. They WERE competetive in '88. They were in most of their games. They collapsed in 1989.
