The European especially Turkish fans told you that he had to be in top 3 picks but nobody listened. NBA teams always underestimate European players, we saw that before. They missed Jokic, Giannis, Sabonis, Doncic and Sengun. They had to be chosen far before their draft rank.

Jokic, Giannis and Sabonis are terrible examples, maybe they could've been drafted slightly higher but coming into the league they were not the players that they are now and took many years to flourish into good players, unless you had a time machine you couldn't have known! even the nuggets didn't pick him with their first pick

Man leading up to this draft a lot of youtubers were posting videos about Sengun as a sleeper. It just seemed like a no brainer to me that he was going to be a star. MVP of a mens league at 18. The last teenagers to win MVP's in Europe were Jokic and Luka. I didn't have time to watch the draft but as soon as I checked it later that day all I wanted to see was OKC drafts Sengun. And that's exactly what it said 😁 Followed by "and then traded to the Houston Rockets" 😭 Still cant believe we didn't draft him. Especially with all the non US players we have drafted in recent years and our preference for high upside unicorn type players. Just imagine a frontcourt of Chet and Sengun 🤯

And that man's league is Turkish League, definitely one of top 3 euro leagues, where there are teams like Anadolu Efes and Fenerbahce who are both Euroleague winners. Alperen got that MVP award with Besikas, a mid contender team. That's very respectable.

Other way to look at it is that this boosted his minutes, numbers and overall performance because they rely on him more, so i think it’s fair to see this young team as an opportunity for him to be the leader they lack. If he got to a stacked team maybe he wouldn’t perform the way he does

As a Rockets fan I was always more excited for Sengun then green. Ive always been more of a fan of the big then the other positions. Yao and Hakeem being 2 of my favorites. Wish we had Dwight longer with us. Angry when we decided to really have no true Center in 2020.

We always know what he would do and his capability because in Turkey basketball super league he was mvp when he was between 17 and 18 years old and you could easily understand he had very high basketball iq comparing himself to the other experienced point gaurds having high iq so this is not shock for ourselves.
