Great video. For real good Barbacoa Aqui es Texcoco in Chula Vista. This place will blow your mind! For authentic Oaxacan food De Cabeza El Unico in Chula Vista Amazing food! The soup is to die for! Incredible tacos! WOW! For authentic Central Vietnamese soups Mien Trung in Linda Vista This place is a hidden gem! Small family run. It feels like you are eating in someone's house! The kitchen is right there with the Aunties and Uncles cooking. The Bun Bo Hue is off the hook! I love the Bun Reiu Oc. Crab tomato flavored broth with freshwater snails. So damn good!

Thank you for all of the suggestions. I have a few suggestions for you next time you are in San Diego: The Market Place at Liberty Station there are so many excellent food choices to choose from, but one of our favorites is Cecilias Taqueria fish tacos with the red salsa. Also, Con Pane rustic breads and cafe their rosemary bread is delicious on sandwiches! Rubicon has excellent sandwiches! My favorite is the rich boy on their garlic bread! I love the free little cookie that they give with each of their sandwiches! Fredcel Filipino food is the best! They only take cash and have special hours. We love the pancit and lumpia! Also, another place that has excellent grilled fish tacos is the South Beach Bar & Grill! The Kebab shop has excellent gyro wraps. I love the gyro wrap with pickled onions. They also have excellent garlic yogurt sauce and spicy cilantro sauce. We also like Punjabi Tandoor. They have buffet style choices with homemade naan bread. Another great spot is the Grill House Cafe, Miramar road and Activity road. They have the best hummus with lavash bread. I love their vegetarian wrap. Also, you have to try the best asian restaurants and ramen on Convoy street.

First time viewer, but excellent choices. I'd like to try them all. But Im here to talk about Tortillas de Harina or Flour Tortillas. They're made of 4-5 ingredients: wheat flour, water, vegetable lard/oil and salt, some use baking powder too. So, I grew up in Mexicali, Baja Mexico. My mom made flour tortillas every night. She said the flour (how it's made) is the key ingredient. Flour made in the US is not made the same way as in Mexico. Costco sells uncooked flour tortillas called FRESCA, they are to die for. Great Video! One hidden gem is Lahaina Beach House. It’s known for a place to drink, but they have an awesome carnitas burrito that is our go to every time we’re in SD. And you can’t beat the atmosphere.

As a trucker and a traveler, I’m here to tell you San Diego is hands down the best city for food on the planet for any type of food. But a lot of ppl don’t know where all the good spots are. Like I saw in another comment Luche Libre ain’t a top 30 in the city but prob top 10 in the rest the country 😂

I respectfully disagree. Los Angeles would be the winner. They have a more diverse population than San Diego, although San Diego's food scene is improving. SD has a lot of good food spots, but it pales in comparison to LA. Chinese food in SD is still really bad for the most part after all these years.

As a SD resident for 20+ years you nailed it. Nice job. I'd say you missed out on some dinner spots in general, but gives you a good reason to come back. You could also legit do a whole video on just CH project restaurants and probably eat some of the best we have to offer (same place that owns Morning Glory and Ironside)

I literally have a spreadsheet ranking all of the places I've tried. You went to a few okay spots (kinme is excellent) but you really missed out on a TON of great food (also coming from SF which has an amazing food scene). Places to go next time you're visiting: Kingfisher, Wolf In The Woods, Fork Oak, Dos Palmas Cafe, TRUST, Cardellino, Deli Llama, Tratoria Cori, Pomegranate, Cocina De Bario, Long Story Short, Plumeria, Lola 55, Starlite, Tribute Pizza, The Friendly Tavern, Hannah's Gourmet, Thai Time North Park, Muzita, Books & Records, Mabel's Gone Fishing, Khyber Pass, White Rice Bodega, Bico, Dao Fu, Pop Pie Co, Izakaya Masa, and I could go on and on... And if anyone that lives here can tell me where to actually get a good burrito then let me know. Everything I've tried I'm not a huge fan of.

More so because a real flour tortilla needs to be made with lard and not chemicals and a real corn tortilla is made with natural maize kernerls turned into masa harina, kosher salt and some use a lye process.

Great work! Some suggestions: Old Town Mexican Cafe- Old Town (crispy carnitas with corn tortillas made to order). Bull's Smokin' BBQ- Bay Park (Beef rib, Cole slaw with candied almonds). Sandbar- Mission Beach (Juan's Street Taco: crispy pork adovada, roasted pineapple, onions, cilantro, jalapeño crema). Neighborhood- East Village/PetCo Park (Hood Burger- double smash patties, smoked gruyere, blue cheese, bacon onion jam, fries, with a side of the best special sauce you've ever had)

I really enjoy your content. You are really good at explaining the taste and textures of the foods. You hit a lot of really good places in SD, there are too many places to go to in one video. However Tacos El Gordo and Lucha Libre are choices. El Gordo is skimpy on meat to double tortilla ratio. And Lucha Libre just hasn’t been good for at least 15 years. Other than that, good spread of cuisines.

Not a huge fan of Lucha Libre. You did miss a couple places. Tacos Asadero in Rancho Bernardo and TJ Tacos in Escondido are Tacos El Gordo offshoots that are just as good if not better. TJ Tacos adobada is better in that it is less sweet and has a nice kick to it in terms of heat. There is also Smokin J's in Poway that has really awesome barbecue. Their brisket is really good.

You hit some good spots gorcsure, but surprised you didntvtry any if our asian cuisine outside of Azuki. We have MANYvmore sushi places including 2 Michelin starred spots. We have a great Filipino population and some excellent Vietnamese food as well. Not to mention an embarrassment of riches in Italian. I would put the following on your list Papalo (sonoran bbq) Tadokoro (sushi) Dae Jeng Kum (KBBQ) Bahn Mi Hoi An (Viet) Teriyaki Grill (fusion) De Cabeza el Unico (mexican) Wolf in the Woods (new american) Nishiki (ramen) Cori Pastifico (italian) The Friendly (burger) Barrio Dog (hot dogs) 8th and B (poke) Mitches (fresh seafood) I could go on and on.

I imagine that to get good flour tortillas in New York, you need to find a place that authentically makes them. There are too many substitutions that are unpleasant and compromise the flavor. For me, authentic means using simple ingredients like flour, lard, salt, and baking powder, and nothing else. Maybe I should consider moving to New York and opening a tortelleria ☺️

As a SD native, more than half of these are a big no-go for locals. Morning Glory is the biggest “do it for the ‘gram” place. Mid at best and every SDiegan is tired of Consortium Holdings at this point. Lucha libre fell from grace many many years ago. Súper Cocina >>>>> Las 4 Milpas Herb and Wood is overrated, expensive and made for tourists. Sunny Boy is extremely “meh” and has TERRIBLE wait time. Every time I’ve been there it’s taken 45+ minutes to get the simplest food. Not worth it at all.
