I stayed away from the A30's due to all the complaints about the lack of clamping force resulting in sound creeping in past the ear pads. I'll stick with the A20's for now. No issues at all with those.

You left out the digital equalizer in the Delta Zulu. It’s a great feature for clarity with us old folks with a bit of hearing loss. Also, as a CFII, the CO monitor is a great feature when getting into multiple airplanes. That said, all 3 headsets are premium headsets and it’s hard to go wrong with any of them. Good review.

Most pilots aren't concerned with clarity or sounding professional. What about hearing the stall horn with these ANR headsets? That's important to me!
@sportyspilotshop7 ай бұрын
Clarity matters a lot for ATC, and one of the top questions we get from pilots upgrading from cheap starter headsets is about microphone performance. We hear a lot of "tower says my radio calls are unintelligible - will this help?" As for hearing the stall horn, ANR headsets are great for that! They cut the low frequency engine noise so those warnings are much easier to hear.

@@sportyspilotshop OK that first part was a joke but all humor is rooted in truth. In a single piston I want to hear the engine and stall horn. I have DC 13S with that same mic.

@@SquawkCode I use the One-Xs and you can still hear the stall warning and engine noises.

The most important feature is Sporty's return policy. No one can tell you which headset is going to be best on your particular head in your particular cockpit. I hate to recommend abusing the policy, but it isn't a bad idea to buy two at the same time, try them head to head, and send one back.

Headsets Inc... Amarillo Texas has great very comfortable headsets w/bluetooth that helps a whole bunch picking up a clearance when radios are sketchy on the ground....

In the US Air Force, we used to put foamy ear plugs in our ears and then wear the headset and the plugs.

Yea we don’t do that at all now. Just one set of custom molded in ear monitors. Costs around 25K the exception is the B1 guys. They still double up on ears

The DC One-X packs up nicely (smaller) and easier to stow and bring around. I find the One-X more sturdy as well. The thing I don´t like on the One-X is that the ear cup/pads fall of too easy and you then have to fiddle them back on which is a pain in the b@tt.

1) What about recording ATC and my replies? Does the app record both continuously, or is it just on a loop for replay? 2) does it record to phone wirelessly through Bluetooth? 3) I want to record both sides (good quality) and add to my Insta 360 X3 video. Can the output be recorded (Bluetooth or wired) to an external device X3
@MrPlaneTalk6 ай бұрын
What are you using to record your audio? 1) it seems too hot. You can hear distortion all throughout as it hits high levels, and it’s just not very clear. I’ve heard other KZbinrs that seem to have a much cleaner audio.

Dude, that just happens with some airplanes’ systems. There’s an RV-12 in my school’s fleet that provides such clipped out audio, it’s barely worth filming unless you’re doing it strictly for debriefing purposes…and no, changing the audio volume on the intercom, etc. doesn’t work. It’s just gnarly by nature.

KB - excellent headset, equal quality to all three of these and less than half the price. I wasted money on DC

aviation stuff are just like race car stuffs. outdated . overpriced and under engineered. any commercially available product with 2020+ noise cancellation technology is better than aviation headset. open Bose a30 and David Clark and see their PCB board and compare the chip and design. I understand this is a itch market, but updating the technology on this simple tech stuffs are just not that difficult.

The Delta Zulu are ugly as hell silver and gold look like it's right out of the 70s in a bad way!
