This might be the best robot design I have even seen.

Thanks! It has its problems, like not stepping high, but is the easiest linkage I've made

This is a very good design, I might build it in a game I make tutorials on

thank you, and let me know how it goes!

How do you make that rubber shoes ? Your previous video is "for kids". Is this really your choice ?
@diywalkers78983 жыл бұрын
I thought it was so simple that kids could build it, but will that designation lead to more kids seeing it? Should I switch it to "not for kids"? The rubber shoes are old LEGO tires I found at the bottom of a bin, which fit snugly around 41677

@@diywalkers7898 Good idea, than you. In my opinion, yes, "not for kids".

done, thanks!

Einstein rides again!!! I'm gobsmacked that there could be such a simple linkage which can make a quadrupedal robot.
@diywalkers78983 жыл бұрын
ha, you know it can't balance, trips on specs of dust, etc. But perhaps its a good starter to that nerdy time sink that you and I know (too well) as "mechanical walkers"?

Looks an interesting design, wonder if it would work with a pullback motor?
@robotica-electronica22903 жыл бұрын
You could have chariot races...

It can seem counterintuitive, but it's often easier to have motorized legs pull a cart, than it is to have a motorized cart pull/push legs. This linkage can be built either way

if you want to go further down this nerdy rabbit hole, check out this: www.diywalkers.com/blog/dead-points-part-2-pushingpulling-the-robot-to-drive-the-legs
@diywalkers78983 жыл бұрын
BUT, since this linkage doesn't step high, the legs can't be driven by pushing/pulling on non-flat terrain. Once the feet hit an object the linkage jams. Motorized legs can sometimes struggle over obstacles by pushing the entire robot backward when the feet hit them.....but this is a hack that doesn't work at larger scales

lol hardly a "spot"... reminds me of old wind-up walking toys.
@diywalkers78983 жыл бұрын
Ha, yeah pretty much - it's meant to be an intro to mechanical walkers for younger students, although wind-up/motorized legs are paradoxically easier to implement than passive walking mechanisms, which require steadier foot-speed

whoa, just looked at your youtube channel and now I understand your comment better - amazing builds!
