Not quite the heaviest we’ve seen, but a good example of what Pilots are up against when landing in Cross Winds.
Pilots can prepare all they want for a Cross Wind approach, but sometimes Mother Nature throws a curveball at the last moment.
The American Jet, albeit getting hammered by the winds (check the wings), still manages a very clean touchdown with, as normal, the ‘facing’ (left) side touching first to compensate for the winds. Nicely controlled flare, runs it with a little ‘float’ and right on the Keys.
In the case of the Egypt Air 777, it looks like they’ve come-in a little fast 🤷🏼♂️ even a few knots can make all the difference. The Sink Rate looks pretty steep and the Flare seems a little late? Look at where they slam this one down: well before the TDZ.
It’s all fully in control, just always an interesting observation to see how Pilots deal with the conditions.
I’m NOT a Pilot, these are just my own observations. So as always, your thoughts are welcome 👍🏻
