Spotlight On: Prof Aisha K Gill CBE

In April 2021, SHaME Principal Investigator Joanna Bourke interviewed criminologist Prof Aisha K Gill CBE, who is a Professor of Criminology at the University of Roehampton.
In their interview, Joanna and Aisha speak about the pernicious aspects of patriarchy and its impact on girls' and women's aspirations, the intrinsic link between community-based activism and academic research in Aisha's work, and how we can use education and an understanding of lived experiences to hold systems of power to account and demand remedies and protection for all girls and women whose lives have been devastated by violence.
