SpotOn GPS Collar and Virtual Fence Review

We review the SpotOn Virtual Fence and give you a closeup look at the collar and the App. In addition, we offer some insights to allow you to decide if this GPS collar is right for you and your pet.
The nice folks at SpotOn sent us one of their GPS collars to test out and review, and we are excited to use this with our dog Apollo when we stay in areas that aren't fenced in.
The collar allows us to set up a perimeter around our RV, and with the added subscription, we can track Apollo via the app and get alerted when he leaves the area.
The collar also deters Apollo from crossing the boundaries we set up. There is a alert tone, a more intense warning tone and finally a vibration (or alternately a static correction).

what about battery life? I hear it's not too good...

We found it lasted about one day. Since he didn't wear it in the house, we simply take it off and put on the charger overnight

Can the second alert sound be changed to vibration?

We have not found a way to customize the two alert tones, the only thing that can be adjusted is the correction. Here you can choose between vibration and correction and adjust the severeness of the correction.

Will this still help me to track my dog if he passes over the virtual fence? If so how far can it still track my dog pass the virtual fence? Im new to this and i just want something that will tell me where my dog is if he runs away. I doubt he will care about passing some virtual fence.

thank you for your comment - we do enjoy all points of view. The spoton has worked great for us and our larger property. We also reviewed some units that are more suited for people with smaller lots.
