They’re definitely adapting to the nyc life. Last year they were easier to squash and kill, but this year they are ducking and weaving our feet.

Meanwhile in MDV area, native birds and other predators have figured out that Latern flies are not poisonous and are consuming them. The latern fly population in DC area are dropping dramatically. With that said, it'll probably be the same up here. Just a matter of time and evolution to do its thing

Reminds me of a classic Simpsons episode with the Bolivian Tree Lizard. Principal Skinner said after the Bolivian Tree Lizard eats all of the pigeons, they were going to introduce a type of venomous snake, and then use a type of carnivorous gorilla to eat the snakes, and then the gorillas would freeze to death in the winter. Makes you wonder, after the wasps, what other species would be introduced to handle them?

I agree with the person...please no wasp that can sting/bite us!!! The latern flies are harmless....except to agriculture of course 😂

We live in the 5 county area where the lanternflies first started. They were bad for a couple years but i haven't seen one here in like 2 or 3 years. Penn State came out and said they are not as bad as first predicted. I find unhatched eggs in our firewood all the time. Honestly if Praying mantis are so great and rare and they eat lanternflies maybe that's what we should breed

I'm not sure lol could be. We have horse flies in Quebec.. I recall they're kind of big but these are like "baby" flies really tiny. :)
