It never ceases to amaze me how people manage to use rules that are completely dysfunctional. This is almost always due to missing the same points that the original designer missed. The spotting rules in Panzer are one of the worst examples of this that I have ever seen.

The way I play any game is that I usually just end up houseruling everything that I can't get to work, so it's not that big of deal to me. That being said, it would be nice for rules to work out of the box so that you don't have to make houserules!

I end up heavily editing just about everything to correct the omissions, contradictions and ambiguities. Overall, Panzer is not the worst example though I still have hundreds of corrections. The spotting lark is an n squared bookkeeping issue. Despite all the bollocks about "handing-off targets", a matrix of enemy vs friends on two axes is required to keep track of who can see what.
