Omg ich hab dich endlich Deutsch sprechen gehört. Man merkt zwar etwas dass du Deutsch nicht sehr oft spricht, aber wow. Deine Stimme und Stimmlage ist so anders wenn du Deutsch spricht- einfach deutscher? Also richtig toll. Ich vertraue deinen Methoden noch mehr, besonders da du dir über dein Deutsch Level bewusst bist und dich nicht besser darstellst als du bist. Hast du eigentlich schon ein Video dazu gedreht wie du Deutsch gelernt hast? Würde mich sehr interessieren um deine Technik besser zu evaluieren und mir eine bessere Meinung bilden zu können. Okay mein Kommentar ist jetzt eh schon lang aber ich muss sagen ich finde es toll wie du deine Meinung mit Sachen belegst die du übers Gehirn gelesen hast. Ich hoffe es ist okay dass ich den Kommentar auf Deutsch geschrieben habe. Ich weiß nicht wie hoch genau dein Level ist falls es irgendwo ein Verständnis Problem gibt frag ruhig :) Bist ein echtes Vorbild für mich. Danke Steve ! Ich lerne deutsch und Französisch auch aber bei mir zu Hausse, ich spreche auf meine Muttersprache: Spanisch. Ich bin 44 Jahre alt und ich wohne in der Schweiz seit 10 Jahre. J' adore votre passion pour les langues et votre motivations pour transmettre vos connaissances par KZbin et de nous dire qu'il ne faut pas avoir une age déterminant pour se lancer à apprendre des langues. Es ist interessant Steven Deutsch sprechen zu hören! Bin zufällig bei diesem Video gelandet, weil ich zur Zeit Italienisch lerne! Deutsch ist meine beste Fremdsprache, da gibt es mehr Material zum lernen als in Finnisch, in meiner Muttersprache.

Super Steve! Dein Deutsch klingt immernoch sehr flüssig, wirklich sehr gut. Man versteht bei dir auch sehr gut die Wörter mit Umlauten, die ja meistens schwieriger für englische Muttersprachler sind. Danke für den Buchtipp von Manfred Spitzer. Über dieses Buch redest du ja häufiger.

Ich kann die beide gut verstehen, aber ich habe noch Schwierigkeiten, um DW Sendungen zu verstehen.... Ich habe Deutsch schon lange Zeit gelernt. Jetzt lerne ich Chinesisch....

Hallochen aus Brasilien, Steve! Bin einfach ein grosser Fan von deiner schönen Arbeit.Seit einigen Jahren schon folge ich deinen Videos. Apropos , genauso wie du , würde ich auch sagen, dass mein Herz für Sprachen brennt. Vor so gut wie eineinhalb Jahr lerne ich russisch und fokusiere momentan einfach nur auf das viel Lesen und Hören. Bin der Meinung, dass durch "chunks" lernen ist ganz einfacher und effektiver. Mach weiter so!

I speak five languages (unsurprisingly they're all in common with yours - I'd guess by now it would be difficult for that not to be the case!) - English, Chinese, Japanese, German and Spanish. you make loads of mistakes in German, but you speak it very well! It's important to remember the fact that perfection isn't the goal. It might be for some people, but speaking a language well doesn't been you don't make mistakes. You can speak a language very well and still make loads of mistakes. I am personally a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to the languages I learn, but I am always impressed when I hear you speak German, Swedish, Russian etc, even though you make more mistakes than I do. Hats off to you, sir!

Hallo aus Deutschland. Ich hab in einem japanischem Buchladen erst ein Buch gefunden, wo drin stand, dass es regelmäßige Verben im Deutschen gibt.... Das Konzept von Deutsch ist auch relativ einfach. Regel Nummer 1 ist: es gibt immer einen Grund jemanden zu korrigieren, dass er etwas falsch macht. Das trifft auch innerhalb Deutschlands zu. Gibt ja manche, die sagen zu Brötchen Semmel. Aber selbst wenn es jemanden geben würde, der perfekt Deutsch spricht, ist das bei der nächsten Reform wieder dahin. Mir tut das dann um Ausländer leid, die logische Fehler machen und man dann sagt: "haha hast du gut mitgedacht, ist nur leider nicht so"

I think you should make more questions to her and let her speak more as in an interview and you shouldn't excuse yourself your Deutsch is great, obviously is not perfect but who cares!

Native german speakers, How good is Steven's german? Pronunciation and gammar-wise.

Very good, especially the pronunciation. Native English speakers usually have a lot of trouble with German pronunciation but he's better than most Brits I know who are living in Germany for many years. Of course you can still hear an accent but overall quite impressive. Regarding grammar he sometimes has an odd word order but most of the time he uses the right gender for words. That's an area where Americans and Brits (and Canadians I guess) usually struggle a lot with.

He also made some mistakes where he used the singular but meant plural (that's a bit more difficult than in English). I assume he just focusses on output, which is much more important in a conversation. And yes, pronunciation is really good for the most part. Sounds a bit Austrian, though (for example the "ch" in "durch"). I wonder whether that's something he picked up from his parents, or whether that's easier to pronounce for someone used to speaking English.

Horrible at times, because of the word order. Sometimes he forgets verbs or pronounces words in a weird way (probably thinking about similar French or English ones). His pronounciation was the best part though.

native German speaker and teacher: Good pronunciation, ok vocabulary and bad grammar. He would pass the B1 but not the active skills at B2 (speaking and writing) I guess

His pronunciation is outstanding considering he has no recent thorough hands-on experience. His grammar is a lot of guessing I think and often it's just a chain of words that even in German is illegal. 🤣 Though he gets most of the genders right and knows some vocab that I wouldn't expect from someone with such issues in grammar. Overall he is understandable, but almost every sentence gives away that he cannot be native (not just the speed).

Salut Steve. J'ai deux questions pour vous. J'apprends l'anglais, et bientôt je vais finir le document que je suis entrain d'utiliser. Donc, je suis à la recherche d'une autre méthode. Mais la seule méthode que j'ai trouvé et qui est convenable pour moi est la méthode ASSIMIL perfectionnement. Mais le premier document que j'utilise est l'anglais américain, et pourtant Assimil perfectionnement à l'accent britannique. Donc, à votre avis est ce que c'est normal que je mélange les deux accents. Est ce qu'en mélangent les deux accents ça ne créerais pas une confusion dans mon apprentissage ?

Comme dans toutes les langues je crois qu'il est mieux d'écouter plusieurs versions différentes pour s'accoutumer. Vous pouvez toujours vous concentrer sur une certaine forme de prononciation plus tard en utilisant des contenus intéressants avec l'accent que vous préférez.

,,Sprachen lernen ist nicht nur Englisch lernen". Sag das mal zu einer Deutschen Schule. Mich würde es nicht wundern, wenn Deutsch in Deutschland genauso gefährtet ist wie in Island. Und Deutschland ist nicht nur Deutsch. Deutschland hat auch Niederdeutsch und Plattdüütsch sowie die Friesischen und Sorbischen Sprachen. Und auch bei Japanisch lernen werde ich nicht nur besser in leichter andere Japanische Wörter zu erkennen sondern auch besser in egal welche Sprachen Wörter zu erkennen. Auch, wenn diese keinen zusammenhang haben. Was Japanisch so toll macht zu lernen ist die große Auswahl an Liedern, besonders dass jetzt Japanische Lieder jetzt auch auf Plattformen wie KZbin zu find sind. Außerdem lerne ich momentan die Ainu Sprache, und die Yonaguni Sprache während ich Japanisch lerne.
