14:22 I teach English as a foreign language and I can't tell you how many people who are only 30, 35 or 40 try to tell me they're too old to learn. Can't stand that excuse. A lot of people seem to believe the only people who can master a second language are 5 year olds and that if you haven't learned a second language by the time you're 10 you've lost your chance

Thanks for the nice video and your strategies! Maybe if you travel differently, you would get more opportunity to speak. For example, walking the camino de santiago is an excellent way to learn Spanish (and other languages even) as you walk side by side with native language speakers and can speak with them in an unforced manner. These kind of routes exist in many places, I'm sure there are long distance walking routes in Turkey that are at least somewhat popular.

Day 50: I enjoy listening to podcasts. But I listen to podcasts that are targeted to native speakers of my target languages. For example, I listen to French podcasts in French. It's highly enjoyable!

Im basically doing this with chinese now. I ask chatgpt to generate stories with repeating context (so main vocab remains the same) 5-6 times a day and it gives me a lot of good new words to learn. My only problem is with this language is the prononciation...

Day 49: It's funny. I thought it was Chinese via the title, but as soon as I heard the language, I knew it was Japanese. Nihongo! Love this language =)

In Mexico there was an intellectual who, at the age of 99, continued writing for the publishers of the main newspapers, and continued publishing books. In his last interview he was asked about his activities. Among other things he said he was learning Chinese. The journalist asked him if he was doing research on Chinese culture. He answered no. That he was learning Chinese because the brain is like a muscle. If you don't exercise it, it becomes weak. It doesn't matter how old you are, if you give up you will be defeated by life itself.

I have a list of 500 or so words that I like to get down before I jump into using the language. I find starting to use the language is much less intimidating that way

Dear Steve, first if all congrats. It's not a compliment but the reality: you're speaking it bloody perfect comparing to the time spent on it. Let me inrease the bet, you're speaking it in more approriate and understandable way than many natives. I hope you keep going. Cheers!

To learn Arabic language is like any other language in the world. Its better to start with the alphabet , when you are done and sure about pronunciation, you can go ahead and start with verbs,nouns... By the way, the verbs in Arabic language are more easy to learn and understand, because they use a logical rule. And another advice, stay focus on classical Arabic the academic language not different dialects, for only one reason. All of theme are based on arabic language itself, so by the time lo master Arabic language you can understand easily all other dialects. For( harakat ) or consonant there is 4 and they are more easy than English, for example they don't change pronunciation every time. The difficult part about Arabic language is the advanced level, when you start analyzing poesy and some other very advanced literature art, yes am agree it need a lot of time and effort
