@@youidontaaa I feel it depends on deck and space Sabrina still has use but if you can only fit one Cyrus is better but for something like charizard deck that may not deal damage until charizard is set up and one shoting thing Sabrina may be better. For something like weavile with spiritomb Cyrus is just better as a whole It will probably depend on if you have early pressure or snipers or if you are all late game damage but most decks have enough early pressure to make Cyrus better

Every single deck got nice upgrades but as someone who loves running metal, I'm so glad metal and dark got so many significant upgrades. Both types went from fun to use to can be significant threats in the meta. I love that now every type is completely viable and not just a bit of a gimmick to bring to a match.

Dragon could still use some love... but I think by their nature, each specific dragon is supposed to be paired with other energy types. I think it will be a while before you can use two dragon pokemon in the same two-energy deck

Realistically it’s likely because they wanted to balance out ex by type and also didn’t want to have stage 2 water grass fire each new pack the reason that infernape likely got it was probably due to fire literally only getting 8 new cards from 4 lines so the options were infernape, magmortar, rotom heat or magcargo and for magmortar and rotom they are also tied to groups so people would be confused if they got it over electivire/togekiss/mamoswine or the other rotoms If you look at other ex a lot of them are the Gen 4 new evos that only had stage 1s yanmega, mismagius, lickilicky, weavile they all had preevo in Gen 1 or 2 but finished in Gen 4

The weavile ex/darkrai ex/spiritomb deck looks fun and unique darkrai can damage active if you already have weavile out with energy spiritomb can put damage on everyone so weavile is guaranteed effect. Honchkrow can fit in too but I feel spiritomb would be more consistent since basic and one retreat but will be something to test out

As a fighting type guy I love all these cool fighting cards we're getting. Rampardos for massive swings and cleaning, lucario for damage boosts, gallade for very consistent damage. We still have marrowack and golem who are already very strong. Cyrus + hitmonlee seems really good. I'm very excited for the set to drop

Dark decks are gonna be REALLY strong. Weavile attacking for 90 with 1 energy, darkrai chipping down walls and helping you get certain breakpoints easier, honchkrow doing 50 to the bench or spirittomb spreading to the bench. Manaphy will also likely be really clutch for water decks. Means they won't rely souly on misty for energy acceleration. Manaphy being able to bring 2 energy into play really quickly also sounds like itll help vaporeon find more of a niche. It can be use to condense all of that ramp from manaphy onto your gyrados or palkia or maybe even mamoswine and suddenly those huge energy costs don't look bad at all. Metal decks are also gonna be really fun i think. Dialga fully powering melmetal or lickilicky while doing 60 damage sounds really strong. The new pokemon communication gives me hope that the stage 2 decks get the consistency they needed. With how strong these new trainers and tools sound on paper having an easier way to run gengar decks makes me very happy. Also just happy that psychic now has more options than just mewtoo. That'll still be the predominant deck I imagine but the lake trio, gengar, mismagius and dusknoir all seem like they could be playable. This is alot of text ik but I had so many thoughts I wanted to put out into the world. Thank you sprags❤

Infernape ex requires Dawn to be able to compete with existing fire dps mons. The only benefit of Infernape ex over Ninetails + Blaine is the hp damage breakpoint, but for a stage 2 line, yeah its not the most realistic option

Game mechanic wise, this is the best sets we got so far. To Infernape having no retreat cost, having a splash-able Shaymin to heal damage every turn, and Pokémon tools like Rocky helmet for a splash-able Druddigon for extra damage is truly insane plays to add to a certain strategy you have for a deck.

They could've not used any starter as an EX, but since there are literally only 4 fully evolved gen 4 fire types, the only options are either Magmortar or Infernape (Heatran is already a steel type here), having Infernape as the only starter EX makes sense (and Infernape is most likely more popular than Magmortar)

Between the trading system and the card leeks I have lost a lot of interest in the game. The art work is great and Yanmega, mismagius, lickilicky, pachirisu are all ok Pokémon but I won’t be excited to pull a rainbow version of them like I would empoleon, torterra, garchomp and giratina. Also, every ex having a full art and rainbow is kind of annoying. You can’t trade them and you can’t burn them unless you have more than two. You only need two for a deck. If you already have a full art and a rainbow of that card pulling a second full art or second rainbow feels like pulling nothing. I was going to spend $100 on the set tomorrow but not anymore. Also, nothing in the data mine reveals anything new and exciting. No ladder or tournaments. Just the same old events.

Honestly I’m really eyeing Dialga EX in combination with lickylicky EX, putting down energy that fast onto a stage 1 pokemon with great HP and Attack while simultaneously dealing a good bit of chip sounds like so much fun!

I LOVE Yanmega omg, so glad it got an EX also so early is surprising as well it’s not like massively popular, also Darkrai seems really good with Weezing strats. Like a Darkrai, Yanmega and Weezing deck seems like it would have a lot of synergy especially because Yanmega can handle the Fighting types you might encounter without needing to run dual energy teams.

There is so much to experiment with... Cyrus-Greninja... Weavile EX-Darkrai EX... I'm so excited! Love how darkness and metal decks get some love! Bastiodons ability (got added after this video) seems CRAZY to me... coin flip for -100dmg? Damn!

I already have sooo many ideas from what I saw.... Moltres + Ninetales and Infernape + dawn looks actually cracked especially with pokemon communication, Dialga + Bastiodon and Melmetal for THE WALL, and Darkrai ex + Weavile EX looks actually dumb for how much early pressure this can do. 90 damage per turn for 1 energy, using only a stage 1 is nuts. This pack just added so much into the game and I feel like it's going to be super varied in terms of gimmicks

Looks like this set has tons of Stage 1 Legendary Pokemon with 100+ HP & Abilities. So I imagine their going to be paired with Rocky Helmet to create early game wall. So Sabrina will still be useful for early game to get Rocky Helmet off the field. Rotom as well being run in multiple decks to counter Pokemon tools.

I'm glad Aipom/Ambipom seem to be an intentionally extremely common line cause that means I'll get a ton of them regardless of what I pull and I don't need to target them. Which means I can focus all my energy on collecting all the Infernape EX variants. Palkia it is!

Rampardos is my favorite pokemon so I'm really glad they got a really strong card in the pocket version. Hopefully rampardos shows up in the physical tcg in the future as an AR or SAR.

Cards I think will potentially be in decent - meta decks Grass yanmega. Maybe combee probably not Fire magmortar, infernape Water palki, manaphy Electric pachirisu, magnezone, electivire, luxray, rotom Psychic togekiss, mismagius, giratina, maybe lake trio (I don’t think they will be good but might be fun and unique to play) people will try dusknoir but I feel it’s going to be hard to fit into a good deck Fighting lucario will be meta the rest are meh maybe galade and rampardos but I don’t think they can keep up with older fighting cards with lucario Dark honchkrow, weavile, spiritomb, darkrai, maybe drapion and toxicroak Metal dialga, skarmory, maybe bastiodon and probopas Dragon garchomp Colourless lickilicky, porygon-z, purugly, rotom fan Items/tools all but lum though lum could situationally fit Supporters situationally all but mainly Cyrus and dawn with Mars as a maybe if it fits

The wording for Dusknoir is interesting to me because it makes it sound like even if you are taking more damage than Dusknoir's total HP, it would still remove ALL the damage from the target pokemon and KO Dusknoir instead. This would be insane for protecting an active EX when your opponent is two points away from victory (or if you need Togekiss to stay in for that follow-up attack)

Just for the sake of making a decent metal deck and a more unique darkness deck to boot, I think Dialga's set seems more versatile to get. Been playing water decks for too long

This game just got crazy aggro with all the stage 2 mons they are printing with 1 energy for the pre-evo, and 2 energy cost for the stage 2. I guess this is their way of solving the issue where going 2nd is better
