Spray Finishing

im building fine wood boxes...using solid hardwoods, ie...walnut, black and english, white oak, yelolow cedar trays, yew wood, cherry, and figured maples..all sorts. can you tell me what you would use for a finish on any of these? starting from a final sanding of bare wood...whats my next step? so all you did was at the ned...sand lightly and spray on LAQUER? did you apply subsequent coats sanding inbetween? Thanks...nice marquetry btw
