always think - if something goes wrong and I have to remove it, how easy / how much cost would that be. Avoid solutions like this - the long term cost is bonkers

Nice show and tell. My mum got a call from a spray foam salesman saying that all the insulation that was fitted back in the last decade has been found to cause damp and now they are ripping it out to do spray foam. Luckily enough I was on hand to talk to them and once i started probing with the type of questions that gave the game away that I knew what I was talking about they just hung up. Looks like the government free cash giveaway to these people is still running.

Quick Question, My loft doesn't have a membrane, you are literally looking at the back of the tiles. What's the best option for insulation? We have insulation on the floor but do I need to add anymore anywhere else? from what i understand the wind blows across the attic space to provide fresh air and the floor insulation keeps the heat from rising up from downstairs?? Im hoping to get a loft conversion done but not sure if the whole roof will need to be replaced

Hi, modern standard of loft insulation are around 270mm so it depends how much you already have. ensure to leave a gap at the edges between the insulation and the felt to allow the roof to breath, this creates a "cold roof" and the air flow through the roof ventilates it keeping it dry. There are a myriad of details with loft conversions and I cannot comment regarding your planned loft conversion as haven't seen it.

This is a night mare because the company's who sell it don't repair the roof before they fit the spray foam which then masks the problem all They are bothered about is selling the product I have been roofing 40 plus years and have been to numerous problems with roofs leaking

Are they leaking because the foam is causing the tiles to lift?

not in this case, valley has fatigue cracks to the lead.
