So glad to see this video. I've had my pump on my 50G cart buddy shut down from overheating twice now. We'll see how it goes after the tips in this video.

My spray buddy does overheat, I've got the 15 gal with the 3/8" hose spraying at 1Gal/1000, i do want to learn what i could be doing wrong. My process is: 1) Fill with water 2) add products 3) agitate for about 15-30 seconds with the dial all the way to the left 4) bleed my line without the spray gun on it (just the valve open) 5) cut off the pump and pull my hose out into the yard 6) adjust my red regulator to 5 or 6 7) turn on pump and begin to spray (i let my finger off the trigger of my spray gun for about a second when making my turns, its about 10 or so turns for my whole yard) I get through about 5-6 gallons before my pump overheats, i am totally cool with it being my fault and I'm happy to purchase the new regulator (if the price aint too bad, i did just drop about $1600 for this spray buddy haha) I do really appreciate a business owner taking this much care in their products, appreciate you looking into this problem bud!!!

Pete, you hit the nail on the head. It's definitely a learning curve. Thank you for helping me thru countless emails. Ive taken your suggestions and my spray buddy works like a champion. I will be first to tell you I was one using agitation while mixing and pulling my hose to starting point. Upwards of 20 minutes b before i started spraying.

Great video! I did the exact same thing on the 20g cart buddy Did the 2gpm handboom nozzle 38 psi under load Checked output in the gallon pitcher, output came out to 1.5 gpm Good enough for me with the handboom nozzle Chem lawn gun with yellow nozzle came out to 2gpm Checked pump temps with a infrared temperature gun Ran for 15 minutes Did not shut off Great product! Great video!

I have the OG setup got my spray buddy the first month it came out and have never had any overheating issues. The regulator works great. I believe the majority of people who are having overheating issues are not using the pump and regulator correctly. The pump could be under a load while they are mixing or letting it run for an absurd amount of time. Remco are high quality/commercial pumps that take a lot to overheat. If I spray when it is hot outside of will run a small fan under the pump to get airflow and after 30 minutes the pump is only slightly warm to the touch.

Can that spray tip be used for a backpack sprayer?

I dont have a spray buddy, I have a mix buddy. I can tell that this thing is completely overbuilt for the use case. I would have to try to break it in order to have a failure…..with any degree of common sense, my set up will last me a lifetime. I have never met Pete, am not a fan boy and am not compensated to say this.

Low voltage will over heat a pump real fast

If there isn’t specific instruction with the product that tells people not to do what Pete has identified as the problem, then he is responsible. I’m not saying it doesn’t suck that we have to ignore common sense but I’ve personally been through this and a small claims court would hold him at fault.

When you buy a car there's no instructions that says do not hold gas pedal to the floor for 3 hours engine May overheat and lock up.. it's common sense that the engine is not designed to do that so why would you take the car manufacturer to court and cry about it.. this is why we have stupid labels on everything

@@kainsarafan8190 you are now full on silly. A car can be floored to its speed limiter for as far as the road will take you and if a part goes while under warranty you’re covered. Ford would sell you the bigger motor up front not after the fact. Lucky for us we have consumer protections that affiord us the right to have something bought with expected use to function that way. If it doesnt consumer protections exist for a reason. And there is sure a do’s don’t and in particular whats covered and not up front not after the fact. Find that little thing called a user manual and give it a read. At this point I’ll assume you to be a troll and hit ignore…

Shouldn’t you offer replacements to those that have the issue? Defects a defect and standing behind your product that doesn’t cost the consumer more money to use it is part of being a responsible business. Sounds like you want to look good but not do the right thing by selectively picking out edge cases. A commercial product with commercial parts but I wont stand by it 😢

Should a car dealership replace the engine in a vehicle if the owner drains the oil out of it and drives it until it locks up? My point being, if the end user is causing the problem, why should the person who sold the product eat the cost of the repair/replacement? Not trying to be argumentative, that's just my opinion. If Pete determines it is a faulty piece of equipment I have zero doubt he will make it right.

@@williamjordan5414 lets be clear - I specifically said he was pointing out edge cases where it makes the user out to be at fault. This part of the video is what I have issue with. The car dealer or better said Car Manufacturer wouldnt tell the person having the issue "hey we can provide you this new fancy engine at the low low price of x". That is suspect in my opinion and given my line of work for a Manufacturing company. The rest of the educational part of the video I have zero issue with which would address the "edge cases or user error". If the Remco is commercial level pump that takes a lot to overheat then the user manual should be updated to reflect proper use. A new/improved part so they can do the same wrong behavior is not the answer.

@@mariobarros9390he also said in the video that he would do another video showing the proper way of using the setup. As far as the car manufacturer part goes, I'm sure they would be happy to sell someone a new engine and not try to educate them on the mistake(s) they made the first time. That way they could continue to sell them engines repeatedly. I don't own either the spray buddy or cart buddy yet so I can't speak to the quality of the product firsthand but I can speak to the character of Pete and I don't believe for one second that he is trying to get someone to spend more money because of a faulty product. Like I said earlier, I'm not at all trying to be argumentative or judgemental. I pray that everyone who has had trouble with their pumps overheating get the help they feel they deserve. Maybe reach out to the manufacturer of the pump and see what they say about the duty cycle of the pump when it's running under a load for extended periods of time? I know some products get kinda thick when mixed and that'll add stress and heat to a pump. Just trying to help. Good luck to everyone!
