Man! I luv watching your vids. Dang! I have a can of Krylon a coat hanger and a tree for a spray booth rig. Lovely seeing how a real pro does it! I love your work. Blessings to you and your family and pets

It's a guitar painting channel, and I'm obsessed with guitars, so I finally put two and two together and realized I'd get five if I just subscribed. So I did, Jay😊

@@thebenefactor6744 thanks... What's your favorite Finish or paint job? Maybe I can do one.
@thebenefactor67442 күн бұрын
Thanks, Jay. What I'd really like to happen, is if someone like you could petition the regular fender/squier departments to throw in a few bodies with the right handed ones so we lefties could have something other than, you guessed it, black.😉

When i did cabinets I would touch them all to make sure they were all sanded smooth because the paint looks like trash if it's not smooth
@JNcolorКүн бұрын
@justinpond7737 yes sir. I think the oil on our skin thing is blown out of proportion. It's never created a problem for me.

That is so gorgeous! You did such a beautiful job it’s almost a shame to cover it with a pick guard.

I’d loooove to know what kind of clear coat you use, or what you would suggest.

Thanks for providing this video. It is very interesting to watch a master craftsman spray. My question if I may: Do you normally prime the surface first or use a clear sealer to prevent the black paint (nitro, I assume) from soaking in, or just spray the black paint directly onto the surface? Cheers.
@DiogenesCaulfield4 күн бұрын
The bodies are sealed with clear lacquer and sanded before he paints, also with laquer, it's all only laquer there in the custom shop.

I'm painting my guitar at home, doing you have any advice on how I can a smooth gloss finish?
@JNcolor5 күн бұрын
@@pyramid_iremide put a lot of coats of clear on it. Wait at least 30 minutes between coats (or whatever the paint label says) then sand it level flat and polish it to shiny.

What spray gun are you using?

@TheHonudiver an iwata lph400
@DiogenesCaulfield4 күн бұрын
As below, so above. If the object is not flat the paint won't be flat, and not flat is not shiny. Sandpaper is cheaper than paint.

what do you mean with “Stratocaster “ ?, I do not think Fender is able to create a guitar like this
@JNcolor4 күн бұрын
@@marineforces3214 OK, who is capable?
@marineforces32144 күн бұрын
@@JNcolor ok, I do not have all the names in my head , I’d say almost everyone as long you are not fender or Gibson. Everyone else is really creative, I do not say the original (jimi Hendrix) strat is bad, no not at all, but after all there are guitars on the market, wow, by the way already for a tenth of the price , hamer, charvel, godin, Ibanez, Yamaha, peavy, all the signature guitars, the fender strat was (is) innovative, but that’s 60 years ago
@JNcolor4 күн бұрын
@@marineforces3214Great observations. I've come up with some pretty unusual colors and schemes over the years but there's a big percentage of the guitar population people that just like the standard traditional stuff.

@Bek-bl2ed2 күн бұрын
Why are you touching it so much before you paint it ? No disrespect
@JNcolor2 күн бұрын
@@Bek-bl2ed Thanks for the question. One this one I did it more than normal just because so many people freaked out about that on a previous video. I know all the stuff about oil on our skin. But in 30 years of painting cars, trucks, planes, boats & guitars, it has never been a problem. I like to feel the surface with my hand because you can feel the slightest amount of dust or tiny specs that may need to be sanded or wiped off. Tack tags prevent that. I'm not trying to boast or say my way is better. This is just how I do it. I understand that not everyone sees it that way and has a different approach. That's awesome. We all do it with our own sensibilities.
