It's coming up a treat and can't wait to see the finished product.

A tooth pick and a little batch of un waxed gelcoat would have been the best way to fill those pin holes, even if it takes a couple rounds like that then keep spraying once they are filled,no sanding required till the final sand/polish

Hey mate what are the specs on the air compressor you used for spraying gel coat? Looking to buy one for a diy Haines rebuild. Lots of good tips and awesome inspiration from your channel mate, love ya work.

I ended up using a peerless 3.5hp with Air Delivery: 300 LPM @ 150PSI. The bigger the better, you just have way more control.

How about to sprat PVA on spots where you filled the chips, sand it down and continue with 2nd and 3rd coat? How do you do transition where 2 colour of gel coateets? Great vid lots of info, thx

I haven’t used PVA for that but it would certainly work. With the join in the colours I made sure the grey was slightly higher than the white and I sanded the white down before spraying the grey. It worked well but It could of been done better. Live and learn

I got a real nice line the starboard side but the port side has a bit of crumbled look because it wasn’t high enough to begin with before I sanded it down. I didn’t want to keep sanding and cause a low spot around the join. The issue you have if you overlap the join is you might get a nice straight line but you won’t achieve a flat smooth join because you need enough gelcoat to sand off and if you sand too far over the top layer you will sand through to the bottom layer. Hence why I did a butt joint.
