Totally agree with you on all of it. People have lost their friggin minds. Don't know what they are thinking. We are dry here in NY too. Not as bad as you as we get some, but it is still dry. We have had a bumper crop of hay this year. Which is a good thing. Was wet to begin with and then it dried up. USDA can report all the acres they want. Doesn't really mean anything. It's what is harvested that counts.

We had an extremely wet Spring. I keep up with Andy the Grumpy farmer so I know yall were dealing with the same thing. Our first cutting was good. Dad wasn’t gonna cut too much more for second cutting but if it don’t rain we may have to start feeding early.
@JeffMilitello6 ай бұрын
@@Thomasfarmstn Yep afraid we might be feeding early here too. Hope it works out good for you guys. Yep, Andy is a good farmer and a good shit all around as are you. Enjoy watching both of you guys. Like to see how farming is different in different areas. Good way to learn things.

The jobs leaving hurts, big time. You’re right about CNH and other doing the same. I heard the other day AGCO was looking at doing the same, and some of what they were wanting to do revolved around their plant in Hesston, KS. I don’t see companies like Vermeer and Kinze following suit though, and I admire that, probably why we see more of their products out there.
@Thomasfarmstn6 ай бұрын
The thing about AGCO is some of the Brands weren’t American to begin with, Fendt being one and Massey may have originated out of the UK. Kinze is still ran by John and his daughter. I say as long as they are involved they will remain in the US, but they are probably sourcing parts like bearing and other stuff from other countries. I worked in manufacturing and engineering before I went farming full time. Less parts are being made here and outsourced from somewhere else. The main products are just assembled here.
@dwalke266 ай бұрын
@@Thomasfarmstn I’m sure Kinze is having to source parts from everywhere. It’s sad that you buy a piece of equipment built here, but a huge chunk of the parts come from all over. I saw Deere was looking at moving their skid steer production south, along with other items. They already moved the rotary cutters and front end loaders from Canada to Mexico, and a few years ago they moved the mower conditioners too. I believe John Deere the man would probably be embarrassed at the company today.

Great video buddy. We are going to be screwed if things don't get turned around. I work for a Deere dealer and you bout right, all of them have parts from all over the globe. My rain gauge is primarily for measuring dust around here. We average only 9 inches per year. Young Russel is gettin it done! USDA; cubicle dwellers crunching numbers instead of going out and doing actual field assessments. The venture capital companies are driving all the corporate wokeness so they play the game to keep the capital flowing.

Don’t don’t ever trade your backyard. The US is a big big place and corn is grown a lot of places. That’s famers biggest issues. They have zero perspective. One only hears about the complaints never the average crops or especially the great areas. IL, IN, most of IA are looking at record or near record crops. NE and MO also look good.
@Thomasfarmstn6 ай бұрын
I understand Tennessee and the South only grow a small percentage of corn compared to the rest of the country. But I know farmers all over the country. Some are having good years but others aren’t. A neighbor travels for his job. He said he had been all through the corn belt the last few weeks. He said a lot of places were worse than my area. Also how can the USDA calculate corn acres and bushels when all the acres haven’t been reported?
@wd319816 ай бұрын
@@ThomasfarmstnThe acres are survey based. Yield estimates are just the simple trend. Just warning that there are lots and lots of good corn acres. IL has a chance to top its record corn yield of 214.
@Thomasfarmstn6 ай бұрын
@@wd31981 so last year was a better year all around in my opinion, the price was a lot better. And the USDA has been wrong several times. Btw I wasn’t surveyed.
