Spraying with the Anest Iwata W400’s and LPH400’s

thanks the vidoe just order new from amazon LPH400 lvx can't wat to start spray clear, i do see it's can paint for base and sealer as well because 1.4mm do u think should work for base, sealer & clear together using for one gun 1.4mm?? or should get another Iwata same LPH400 Lvx 1.3mm?? or difference for Iwata ?? i planning to get LPH-400 Lvb soon 5700 for special paint

Nice comparison mate! There’s a guy that sprays with the LHP-400LV4 1.4 and he says it’s not a slow gun. I think He is spraying high solids clear at 20 psi.He has lots of guns and the LPH-400 stills his bests gun.his KZbin channel is The Triggerman .

Its slow compared to others but if you get closer and/or close up the fan some it can move decently. I usually leave the fan wide open at around 20-22psi with low/med solids clear. High solids I crank it up some and close the fan some if needed. At around 2 turns in from wide open the fan starts closing and the pressure on the guage starts going up. That tells you its starting to push more air out the center of the cap and speeding things up. The fan is still wide just cleaning up the edges. The LPH is super versatile if you know how to adjust it and with the 3 caps available to cover different jobs

Brooooo you are a proooo I have the w400 wbx I hate that eats so much paint I am moving to the DV1 base and clear I like to save money on paint, I like to paint with lower pressure and I hate the clouds of clear around the shop.

I have actually! It works great for solid colors but it’s a bit tricky with metallics compared to the W400LV4 or any of the LHP guns. Somebody actually just taught me a trick with metallics where you put in binder about 2:1 with your color before you reduce. Doesn’t cover as well but it’s almost impossible to tiger stripe. Yeah try the purple lvb cap it atomize clearcoat really good and I pefer using 1.3 fluid tip with that cap ,1.4 is over kill if u dont choke in the fluid in a bit and I don't like cap for basecoat at all !!!

Bro thank you for this video, I've been chewing on the idea of getting the WBX but could never really find an in depth demo for it with other caps. I gotta say, that WBX has a larger fan compared to the LVX from what I saw

No problem man! I am guessing the larger fan is due to the base coat being higher viscosity than the clear because it’s a 2:1 base. If you refer to my air cap video you will see the LVX and WBX caps are basically identical, it’s just the 3 cut tulip versus the 4. The 3 cut of the WBX creates less flow around the nozzle, so maybe it does force more air through the horns resulting in a larger fan. Thanks for watching, cheers! 🍻

Thank you for the informative video friend... I have the w400 lv2 and the lph 400 lv4... Great guns... But when I change the niddle and cups(I put the w400 lv2 on the lph gun) even I thought that is the same gun I realized that sprays different... I think inside the gun have something different... The w400 lv2 on the lph 400 don't spray like an lv2...

Hey thanks for the view man! Are you sure it’s an LV2? The LV2 won’t even fit on an LPH as that gun does not use the tulip or “LV” style nozzle. I put a video up explaining the technical differences between these guns and also the LV2 and Bellaria. Go check it out if you want to get really in depth

Braden you said you had poor results when you tried the w400 lv4 cap on the lph400, my curiosity is did you change the 3 tip nozzle as well while testing/spraying or did you leave the 4 tulip nozzle in place and just changed the cap only

There was no switching around air caps in this video, all guns had the factory fluid tip and air cap. I did however try a LPH400 lv4 cap with the W400 3 prong nozzle and for me that worked really well for clear coat. The W400 and LPH400 both have air caps designated “lv4” but they are completely different

Sorry didn't finish question, however into the lph-400 to see if it performs well, from reading all the comments we know the w-400 with the Lv4 cap sprays clear like glass, since the guns are made very similar would it work in reverse with same tip and cap in the lph-400, I apologize for long text, thanks

Orange cap all open 15-17 metallics. I use to struggle with this gun. 😂 it likes low pressure.

Hell yea man I’ll give that 2.5 turns in a go on the clear! Personally I have been running the orange cap at 29psi but I also don’t use high flow fittings so I have to run higher pressure to make up for it lol. After a few months of using its 100% my favorite base coat gun.

Absolutely! The body, adjustment knobs, trigger, needle, and seals are all identical between the two. It’s the air cap and nozzle that make the gun what it is.

I’m 100% with you man! The needle on all W/LPH400 guns between 1.2 and 1.6 is the 20015 needle, no need to swap within that range. The funny thing about these guns is that there is 3 different nozzles for them. The Bellaria and LV2 are totally proprietary. The WBX cap on a LPH400 nozzle works exactly like an LVX gun. The caps are identical, I have compared them and sprayed them side by side. Excellent for base and sealer. The LPH400 LV4 cap on a W400 nozzle works amazing for clear. Last combo is W400 LV4 cap on a LPH400 nozzle, don’t even bother it’s totally useless. I ended up with a 4-5 inch wide fan even with the adjustment wide open.

If I was you I would buy a W400 WBX gun for under 400 bucks, swap caps with the LPH and you will have a badass base gun and a badass clear gun

Thanks for reply. I need clear gun setup for complete jobs. Glass finishes only? Fast enough for no dryness. No paint booth, garage setup though.

@@Mr318jones ahh for a garage setup I would recommend the W400LV4 gun as it has significantly less air consumption. I also have gotten a few of the smoothest jobs of my life with that gun. The Bellaria and LV2 might have slightly less air consumption for a smaller compressor however they create lots of overspray which is not good for a garage.
