I have the purple LVB cap for the LPH, that ones made specifically for difficult metallics/metallic control and required to be sprayed at 14psi or lower anything above that the fan pattern can produce an S shape. That cap has 3 holes on the air horns and a total of 2 air holes in the center of the cap, it also produces a very large fan its best 1 turn in from fully open, and runs the best with a 1.4 at full fluid. Droplet size is bigger compared to the LVX cap and additionally can work pretty well with clear, but if you use it for that you'll need to dial in fan a bit more and you can turn the psi up to 20-24 without the S shaped pattern. Finicky cap but definitely works well for what it's made for

I have not used water through it but it’s a great clear gun as well

The extra cuts around the tulip nozzle is better because it starts atomizing the fluid right at the needle. That’s why iwata can get away with only 2 small holes on each side of the center cap. If you look at other high quality guns you won’t find a tulip pattern but you will find 6-12 holes like the tekna and sata. More small holes the better.

Many months later and I’m starting to like the LPH guns better for everything. That extra split in the nozzle really helps

I think youve found why you dont like the original LV cap. Its the higher viscosity that you prefer. The LV cap should be better for medium solids which is ideal for guys at home.

Hey that’s a really good point! Bellaria is probably perfect for a small compressor garage job with MS clear

After some extended research on KZbin and forums, I've come to wonder why the W400LV-LV4 has very little mention. The majority of conversations & videos focus on the LPH400 and other W400 based guns except the LV-LV4. Your video might just be the only one on it. It's kind of perplexing.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE IWATA BELLARIA"W400" NOZZLE NEEDLE AND AIR CAP COMBINATION FOR CLEAR COAT; I TRULY ENJOY YOUR VIDEO, S ; THE PATTERN TO ME IS CRITICAL" I PREFER A LARGER PATTERN WITHOUT HAVING TO BUY ANOTHER GUN WHAT COMBINATION WOULD YOU RECOMMEND?? THANK YOU, Patrick.P

The Bellaria cap has a much wider fan than the LV2. I would say for a wide fan BA4-2 cap/nozzle for DIY use and WBX cap/nozzle for a professional compressor setup that can flow enough for HVLP. For medium solids clear I would go 1.3 and for high solids clear I would go 1.4.

Like I explained, the LVX and WBX caps air holes are the exact same. The main difference is is the 3 cuts in the W400 nozzle vs 4 cuts in the LPH400. I have not switched them up for base and clear but I have a hunch they will spray 95% the same. As for the W400 LV4 it’s an absolute ripper of a gun and I have got some incredibly smooth finishes with it. In fact I threw the 1.4 tip in that gun for the video. For years prior I ran a 1.3 in that gun and I feel like it still would have sprayed faster than the other guns had I left the smaller nozzle in. Mind you the trade off is that it’s going to eat up paint more and create more over spray. If you have a smaller compressor setup or are not using crazy expensive clear coats I’d say that one would be your best bet!
