I use raw garlic as a all natural antibiotic. It works pretty amazing. When I'm getting a cold I make immune boost tea 1 cinnamon stick 1 crushed garlic clove 1 tsp sliced ginger 2tbs honey and 1/2 a sliced lemon steeped covered for 10 min it always makes me feel better. I'll have to try adding some of this.

I live in Alberta on the Canadian prairies and we easily grow this plant, it even grows in colder areas where it gets -40 in the winter. Mine came in a wild flower mix, I feel lucky this grew from a random seed!

I always have to throttle my enthusiasm to dig up and separate echinacea. Gotta keep some big plant bunches in tact or no blooms that season. Leave them alone for a few years and enjoy first. One of my favorite plants here in Kansas City.

I hear you! I'm in N.H., "The granite state". Every hole has pebbles, then stones, then rock. To plant some of my perennials I have had to use a crow bar to get the rock out first.

Easiest way is get big loads of arborist chips and spread them-at least several inches- on top of the soil where you want a bed. It will take a season or two for it to breakdown, but the earth underneath will become much softer. I dug individual holes for seedlings after waiting only a few weeks, added compost and was able to grow a lot of things in my first season of Back to Eden garden beds. Keep adding layers every season. Great no till method, and works very well. If you lay stuff down in fall, you will be very happy in the spring, and so will your back.

I grew mine from seed. It was wonderful when they finally came up, one of those gardening moments. I’m sure you all know what I’m talking about, that ‘pure joy’ moment. Just love them! I haven’t divided them yet but will after watching you show us how. They are long lasting as a cut flower and add a unique texture to an arrangement, you can also remove the petals if you wish and create even more of a textural feature. Versatile little plant. Just found this channel a few days ago and instantly subscribed ! Love it ! As an herbalist of 30 years, Echinacea is one of my favorite get well herbs, I have it everywhere ! I use It as a tincture or grind it and use it in capsule form and it works quickly. FYI, if you are going to use this wonderful plant take it 14 days on the 14 days off as it can build up in your liver. However, drinking a full glass of reverse osmosis water helps your body absorb it quicker and lessens the chance of a build up. It really is a wonderful plant ally ! Again, really love your channel and so happy I found it !

I'm in NWArkansas and it grows wild here, as do dogwoods, redbuds, yarrow, daisies and bee balm. I planted a new echinacea last year and it stayed small like 1st year perennials do. But it flowered at CHRISTMAS!!!!

The American Goldfinch LOVE the seed heads. I enjoy watching their acrobatics while they land on top and SWING AWAY back and forth while using their beaks to pry loose the seed. Little bundles of sunshine in the garden! So many good reasons to plant this.

I’m in zone 3, in Canada, where a week of 40 below in winter is pretty standard, but these are perennial in our area...even in the chilly river valley where I work in the golf course. We have a number of them. Zone 6 must be all the garden centres are willing to guarantee them for (they are often ridiculously timid).

Hey Plant Abundance! I moved from Texas to upstate New York (Zone 5!) and this echinacea thrives up here! So it's not limited to zone 6, you can add zone 5 to your recomendation.

Echinacea purpurea is actually native to the prairies of MN and the Dakotas, so it is quite hardy (to zone 3). Many of the beautiful new cultivars are not as hardy though.

😹😹I remembered I planted some yeas ago and did cut flowers from them they dried out in the vase and still sit there on the display unit because even dried out they look pretty I think I will see if they will grow from them as they doo look dusty now 😹😹😹😹but mine are mixed colours from purples to reds, yellows and orange in colours 😊😊😊as we are going into winter I will clean the flower heads and see how many seeds I can get for next spring 😊😊

I really appreciate all the information. I'm new on grow equinacea, I plant last year a capuchino Indian summer variety and at the same time stated from seed echinacea purpurea from a seed head on my mother's garden. I love this plant but I wasn't able to grow it before due to a hardy weeding and digging brambles from the soil and improving my hardy clay soil. The cappuccino one is gorgeous this year. Lots and lots of buds and five big flowers opened at the same time. Looking forward to the coral and the scabiosa coneflower. ( I love this echinacea with this pin cushion center and this crisantemun like petals all around).

My echinacea transplants always seem to be grumpy, I'll try again when the clumps get a little bigger. Seed grown, however, seems to work great! Also highly recommend rudbeckia daisies / black eyed susans.
