We have a 2005 McCormick mtx 120 and it's done 6500 hours roughly still running as sweet as a whistle

Very good Rich. The McCormicks are growing on me.
@thefunkyfarmer9 жыл бұрын
Thanks.I would have bought Masseys but they are more money and its hard to justify the extra cost on a small farm like ours

You've a nice setup for the fertiliser spreading. We use 50kg bags of fert on our farm as we've only one tractor! Thing is I'm too cautions when spreading and don't open the spreader enough so I end up going around the field twice!
@thefunkyfarmer9 жыл бұрын
We used to do the whole farm with 50kg bags, blooming hard work.

Shut your rear window before you load the hopper. You dont want glass mixed in the fert

Hello , I liked your video and for a long time I have been to monitor your videos. I am a farmer on a small island of the Azores ( Portugal ) and I like to exchange ideas with other farmers. you put on pasture fertilizer 25-5-5 why? you have problems with levels in P and K or just to keep the levels ? and this is pasture for the cows or to make silage ? Sorry for my bad english. big hug
@thefunkyfarmer9 жыл бұрын
Celso Resendes yes its to keep the levels. The field is first cut for silage then used to graze

What do you do with your plastic waste and wrap, is it collected and recycled. I remember 10 years ago having a monthly burn up. These days most farms seem to have all the wrap collected or a skip for it with the enviroment agency clamp down on burning. Probably a good thing as the smell of burning plastic was horrible.
@thefunkyfarmer9 жыл бұрын
we get it all collected once a year, then it is washed and shipped to china fro recycling. Will post a video when we do it
@MrPaul1f9 жыл бұрын
Cheers, I'll be interested to see this.

Is this hay land and how many pounds per acre? Thanks, john in va
@thefunkyfarmer9 жыл бұрын
its used for first cut silage and grazing. Putting on about 100kg of fert per acre
@beemaster689 жыл бұрын
was this made up from 2 takes as in one clip your back window is open then as the fert runs out of the bag the window is closed then when you finish emptying the bag the back window is open again lol

Ha well spotted. Yes filmed in a couple of takes as i have to reposition the camera for different shots

Our farm doesn't use much artificial fertilizer. How do you know where you have been so you get the perfect coverage without wastage?

Very good video Seeing you spreading fertiliser tells me that winter gone and we are now into spring. When do you let your cows out to grass? Have you decided on what mower to purchase to replace that unreliable Sip
@thefunkyfarmer9 жыл бұрын
Thanks Adrian. I think it will be another 10 days or so before we let the cows out as the weather has been cold and the grass hasn't grown much. I don't think we will be buying a new mower this year now that the milk price has dropped so low. We will probably get a contractor to help with first cut then struggle on with our old mower for this season
@adriangreen66759 жыл бұрын
thefunkyfarmer I agree that milk prices are far to low and there will be a lot of producer thinking about pulling out of milk production all together We get the same in Precision engineering customers want it made for next to nothing. One example we priced up a job of a 100 components and it would cost £95 each to produce. the customer said he would only pay £15 each and no more. We could not buy the material and get the heat treatment done for that price net alone do all the machining to it and that included nearly a weeks precision grinding. That was a waste of time and effort.
@thefunkyfarmer9 жыл бұрын
adrian green That's ridiculous. I guess you are being outbid on stuff by countries like china who will do a job really cheap because they have no health and safety, minimum wage etc
