This could also be a lesson on why walls with sudden height increases of several levels are likely to stop...which is why the test didn't surprise me where it stopped.

I did not realize how much the world needed a definitive resource on this technique until watching this. Such a well-explained video, you touched on all the points that I would've included if I were to make this video, and more. I'm sure I'll find myself referring people to this video when I mention the "dark arts of stopping a 2D domino wall" 😆 I admit I also guessed 200g, but wasn't at all surprised 100g was enough. I was thinking "100g might stop it, but if not, it'll juuuuust barely work" I bet if you repeated the experiment like 100 times (do not do this lmao), you'd find 100g has like a 50-60% success rate.

I think the best thing to do is maybe to always have a weight just in case And moving the weight during the building (maybe using two to be sure)

if you simply hot glue the dominoes as you build the wall things like this wouldn't happen 🙄

If you glue every domino piece together, then the wall would never disassembles and this would be a trouble 🤦

the ammount of weight to stop the wall is atleast partialy related to the height of the wall here the wall is ~1m tall whitch is on the taller end of the scale but it's also the alternating wall so I'd say about 300grams could be enough to eliably stop it
@DaSpecialZak
@DaSpecialZak 2 жыл бұрын
I didn't expect the wall to stop at 200g, I thought it would of stopped at 300g and good luck for the guinness world record of longest domino wall
@0hellow797

So why not add a weight as soon as you hit the height you want? Then you don’t need to react if you can’t fast enough. Awesome video, I never would have thought of that!

Hi Sprice Maxhines, You’re the best at Rube Goldbergs! I love rube Goldbergs! In fact, I’ve got a challenge for you-make a Rube Goldberg machine that delivers PANCAKES! Here are the requirements: 1. It MUST start by rolling a red ball down a ramp before it hits the dominoes. 2. It must end with a pancake being served onto your plate. Love, Dylan,

As long as you are not building a domino wall on the moon, a 200g mass gives you the right weight needed

Instead of placing your fingers on the wall. Why not just place these weigths. Every 20cm or so when you build.
