This looks like you have a soil problem with the #3. I noticed a lot of clay when the rootball came up. Typically the branches on the outside match the roots underground. If the roots cant spread, the branches cant.

Looks good. So #3 was the tree that you did work on in the other video.. If you don’t mind me asking, I’m curious about climate/environment- what city/state do you live in? What do the fruits taste like? I buried a meyer lemon tree too deep 3 months ago so I dug it up and raised it yesterday. Hence why I searched and found your video. Haha. I first started doing what you were doing and even did a basin around it which may have been ok since it was producing fruit but since the main branch was showing yellow and leaves curling I decided to dig/raise it up. Cheers & good luck to your 2 trees!

Yes, # 3 was the one in the other video. Yoshino's produce an "insignificant small black fruit" that birds usually eat within a few days. They don't taste very good to humans so Yoshino's are planted mainly for their looks. However, my trees haven't produced those fruits yet. Not sure when they'd normally start producing. I tried to quickly research but no luck. I live in East Tennessee. Thanks for the good luck, they'll need it haha. Good luck on yours too.

Hi, I live in zone 8 and I'm looking to plant one in the backyard, about 10 feet away from the house foundation. My main concert is Yoshino root become invasive as they grow and cause damage to the house. Do you have any insights to share on this topic?
@weekendhomeprojects3 жыл бұрын
They say to plant at least 12 feet away from any structures. The roots will grow as wide as the trees canopy and I've seen some 20+ year Yoshino's that get pretty wide - i.e. 40' total diameter. It's better to be safe than sorry. However...I've planted more than a few trees too close to the house so I understand your struggle.

@@weekendhomeprojects Thank you so much. I searched on Amazon and found Tree Root Barrier products. I think it is what I need to install to prevent root from damaging sideway/foundation. Have you heard of those products?

I wanted to plant some white flowering tree. So thinking in between yoshino flowering cherry and Cleaveland.

@@BeautifulMaplesAndShrubs I like Yoshinos more myself. My neighbor has Cleveland’s and their blooms aren’t nearly as impressive as the Yosh.

Did you shape the white trees into that weird bush shape?
@tglenn312110 ай бұрын
Yeah, I've always heard not to plant a 'grafted' tree so deep that the grafting knob is below the soil.
@weekendhomeprojects6 ай бұрын
Yes, that is true. But you should also brush away the top of the root ball until you find the flare. It is always 2-4" deep on trees you buy from the nursery. Once you do that, and plant the flare slightly above grade, you'll have one less thing to worry about.

How big were the trees when you first planted
@weekendhomeprojects2 жыл бұрын
Not a whole lot bigger that it was in this video. I stunted it's growth the first 1.5 years due to not buring it correctly. After I saved it (kzbin.info/www/bejne/qZTXmH1jYrqqh80), it's finally starting to grow.

My Yoshino Tree didn’t flower this year. I planted it last year in the spring it flowered but not this year it turned into green right away no little white flowers. Anyone knows why?
@weekendhomeprojects2 жыл бұрын
Do the green leaves look good? If so I wouldn’t worry. If it frosted the few nights the flowers start to come in they just give up. I got like 3 flowers on mine this year because of that.

@@weekendhomeprojects yes the green leaves looks very healthy. That’s probably what happened we had frost many times in last last couple weeks in Ct. I was looking forward to see the white flowers :-( oh well better luck next year hopefully. Thanks a lot for the answer, appreciate it.
