Spring 2023 Channel Update **ZZP Swaybars & Trailing Arms Unboxing and Other IMPALA Goodies!!**

Who's ready to get back to wrenching on their vehicles? Count me amongst those who are!! I have a slew of parts ready to go onto all 3 of the vehicles in our fleet, but the star of today's show is the ZZP suspension trifecta for the 9th Gen Impala: Front and rear sway bars, and rear trailing arms.

Most of this stuff was originally designed for 2nd Gen W-Bodies with the 3800 engine, however the brake and chassis components are a direct fit for the 9th Gen Impala (which is a 3rd Gen W-Body, virtually identical to a 2nd Gen W-Body under the skin, therefore those components fit just fine.)
Anyway, stay tuned for a slew of new content! It will be 90% Impala, 10% Cruze, so like usual, I don't expect big numbers for the Cruze videos! 🤣

Congratulation on getting those improvements from ZZP. I found replacing that front solid sway bar made the single most difference in performance and cornering. I did replace all my bushings with polyurethane they do squeak a little bit but I figured the extra stiffness would help. I did have to put a jack under the Cradle and lower it down about two and a half inch to get the front sway bar in. The back sway bar was kind of a pain in the ass because of the dual exhaust but after some finagling I was able to get it in. I did also replace those tubular trailing arm stay away practically nothing compared to the factory ones. I did have the boxed trailing arms because I have the fe3 suspension so I don't really know if they helped any but they are a lot lighter. The only other thing I did on top of what you have there is I did put upper strut bars on front and rear but I honestly don't think they really do much good. Good luck with your work there I'm sure you'll be happy with the end results as I was specially with that front sway bar and wait till you feel the difference in weight between the factory one and the one-year installing.

Thanks!! Did you disconnect the steering shaft from the rack before you dropped the cradle? Was also thinking about unhooking the muffler hangers and dropping the exhaust down to aid in getting that rear bar in. That's good to know about the strut tower braces - I had considered buying them but the thought of crawling in the trunk and unbolting the struts turned me off of them!! 🤣 Yeah, that front bar sure is, shall we say, "hefty"!!

@@CertifiedShadetree No I didn't do anything with the steering at all. I did keep an eye on it but nothing happened to it. I did drop the exhaust hangers so I can slide above the mufflers and pipes. Sliding is an understatment as it required a little force. I had my son crawl into the trunk and do the rear strut towers. But then again when I replaced my struts a couple years ago I did all of it myself. The front strut bar on my does come uncomfortably close to the intake plenum so I put washers under the strut bar to give it just a little more room. Also I removed the rubber part of the engine cover that wraps over the back part of the engine. I really do suggest you getting the polyurethane supports or insulators. Will make it more regid. I don't remember when I got them but I know it wasn't ZZP.

I hadn't even thought to check elsewhere for the polyurethane bushings! Someone somewhere has to sell 25mm swaybar bushings (maybe Summit or Jegs.) Thanks for that idea!!
