Hey things are really looking good. I made myself some trees the other day using your methods. Wanted to say thank you. Thank God I don't need your numbers but I will need a lot. Looking forward to seeing more and hopefully you are having some fun, Chris

The realism you work towards shows. Love the speed you run the trains, and the sheer length of the trains are part of that.

Great update Grant!!!! I am happy to report I am about 2 months away from having some dedicated space to start my own layout! I had to compromise and give the kids the newly finished basement area to play with and I will be working in at 13' x 15' room. Freelancing a track layout is a bit of a stressful task!

Good to hear you're nearing construction. Always exciting to have a clean slate in front of you to work with. Have fun! -grant

@@SouthernAlbertaRail many thanks for the warm welcome. I have 30 years + experience in the UK rail industry I am new to North America railroads and N scale. Your channel is really giving me a ton of great ideas for my project that’s in the early planning stages.

Fantastic update Grant! The layout just continues to wow and impress. Yes, we had a brush of winter (Calgary) last week but we waited the required 15 minutes and now it's spring. lol Cheers!

Yup 15 minutes is usually all hot takes!! Thanks for stopping by Dwayne.

Looking fantastic as always. I too try to stay era spot on and like you mine is a freelance. I also have the option to change out vehicles, a couple of structures so I can power and add some different rolling stock. Have a great Holiday.
@SouthernAlbertaRail2 жыл бұрын
Thanks John. I remember reading articles back in the 80's on swapping or adding annexes to industry to establish different eras. That combined with appropriate rolling stock changed the entire feel of the layout. Cheers!

What a great layout and channel! Glad I just discovered it. You've got so much space but used it so well, your helix must be massive to to get your decks so much clearance between them. I love how most of the layout is just a single track main snaking through terrain rather than a crowded mess of track.
@SouthernAlbertaRail2 жыл бұрын
Not much of a helix. Most of the climbing is visible. Thanks ford tuning in and I appreciate the kind words. Cheers! -grant

Riding the Canadian…consider me exceedingly jealous! Great update! Quick q: by bumping the layout ahead 4-5 years, does anything now need to come off the layout because it’s now past it’s prime?

Couldn’t help but notice your locos have their trip pins removed but the cars have them retained. What’s your philosophy on this? Thanks.
@SouthernAlbertaRail2 жыл бұрын
No real philosophy. I don't like the pins sticking out on the front of the locomotives. One day I will drop on proper trainline castings..... In theory.... Given time and inspiration!!
