Loved the documentary, but would love to see the whole concert. I think the whole cast’s performances need to be seen.

Just release the whole footage of the concert. I'm pretty sure the editing process would go faster lol

I wish the cast storyline was more than just Groff and Lea, their relationship is amazing but John Gallagher Jr/Moritz is the essence of the show for me and I missed him a lot. Also Gideon Glick got zero screen time on stage or during interviews and that's a crime

GIDEON IS A GODDAMN GIFT AND I LOVE HIM SO MUCH

Yes! If there's one thing everyone already knew, it's that Groff and Lea are insanely close. I LOVE JGJ and of course would have wanted to hear more from him, but also the rest of the cast as well! And HOW did they not show Gideon's solo in 'Touch Me'!? UGH

after just watching the special, you touched exactly on two of my issues. gideon felt left in the dust, no matter poor jgjnr! he was such a force in the story, and literally won a tony !!

@@alexsamulenok honestly it felt weird to have a whole segment on coming out as a Broadway actor without Gideon chiming in too and without mentioning ernst and hanschen? Even JBW got zero screen time and he was a fan favourite

@@spinalc0rds so true. i actually really liked the special, it made me laugh/cry, and certainly went deep into some of the casts personal lives, but it did end up feeling a bit like the jon and lea show, which i suppose was to be expected. but it’s almost like they forgot that every cast member was so loved, and they really shot themselves in the foot by leaving so many of them by the wayside.

The sound mixing of the film was beautiful and truly amazing.

I absolutely love this documentary and will not embarrass myself by saying how many times I've watched it. (All the songs are on a constant loop in my head.) I've fallen in love with the story and the characters and the actors all over again. Honestly, its a beautifully told story with all the elements firing at just the right moment. A symphony of a documentary.

I hope there is a Spring Awakening musical soon. Please

This documentary was how I found Spring Awakening and am obsessed now. Was the entire show filmed back in 2006? I would love to see that!

You should also look into the Deaf West Broadway Revival from 2015! Deaf West is a theater company of deaf professional actors, so about half of the cast was deaf (double-cast with a musician to sing their part as they signed it), and every hearing actor learned to sign so that the entire show was done in both singing and ASL. The original show is about adults who refused to communicate with their children, so they cast two of the most ignorant teenagers (Wendla and Moritz) as deaf characters- it made so much sense! So far it’s just a lot of talking I wish they would’ve given us the whole concert and nothing else without any talking.
