Ik this was a year ago but I ended up watching the show Rise and they did this musical and SPOILERS (if you watch it) a part of the plot was the principle and teachers trying to censor the show and changing the entire plot (taking out the abuse, the gay scenes, the sex, the swearing, the pregnancy, literally the entire plot) and in the end they went ‘frick you’ to the rules and did the original musical and right at the end of Totally F*****d when here’s the big f bomb they had to censor it on tv. I nearly died from the irony and just the pure silence at the end.
@cerilothian517710 жыл бұрын
Does anyone else find it ironic how censored this performance is when the entire musical is about the effects of censorship on young people? I know there's a couple hundred years difference, but the principal still applies :P They did a fantastic job considering though, love this musical so bloody much!
@mrtompinney10 жыл бұрын
You bring up a good point. But welcome to cable television. I'm surprised it wasn't censored further. Had they not censored themselves, the network would've censored them.
@sparklemotion101310 жыл бұрын
Tom Pinney This was live on CBS, not cable, so you're right, FCC restrictions were in full force. Also, the musical is mostly about repression; it's not at all about censorship.
@mrtompinney10 жыл бұрын
Network TV. My bad.
@JonathanBontragerWaite10 жыл бұрын
I think that was part of the performance. It was a bit of a statement against censorship (the way that they covered their mouths every time the lyrics contained something they couldn't say). The creative team probably thought it was stupid that their original score couldn't be performed, so they took the chance to try to condemn the concept.
@JonathanBontragerWaite10 жыл бұрын

this is probably my favorite broadway show i have ever had the pleasure of seeing. I have done 2 broadways productions as well as some touring, but this is so beautiful and pure. It awakened your body, mind, and soul. the nakedness and reality was so inspirational. pure bliss and perfection.

The talent in this cast is astounding. Lea Michele takes my breath away. Jonathan Groff and Johnathan Gallagher Jr are incredible as well. Thanks for uploading this!
