Rain, wind, ticks and mosquitoes. That usually means a great trip! ;) Looks like a proper amount of booze too.

Can’t stand getting wind bound, you handled it well!
@schultzoutdoors87992 жыл бұрын
Yeah it sucks! Especially when your trying to make it a certain distance.

Really enjoyed this video. I’ll take ticks and mosquitoes anytime over the black flies I endured on a trip to the Adirondacks in early May. Say hi to Lexi for me.

Thank you Ron. I have to agree with you on that, black flies suck and can easily ruin a trip. Lexi says hi back!

Paddled out there beginning of last July. Amazing to see the water level differences. On that big beaver dam, I portaged on the south (opposite) side - it was about 50 feet and water barely trickling between some rocks. I could see that spot gushing in your video.
@schultzoutdoors87992 жыл бұрын
You'll really see the water levels in the next part as I travel to Malberg lake. Yeah I actually saw that portage as well on my way back but unfortunately I couldn't take it then either. Thanks for watching!

Smart move waiting it out. We had to do the same, where the Petewawa meets Grassy Bay the other day. The real nice campsite you stayed at there is completely thrashed now. Looks like storm damage from about a year ago
@schultzoutdoors87992 жыл бұрын
Yeah, sometimes you just have to stop even if you don't want to. That's too bad about that campsite, it's one of my favorites. Hopefully it will get cleaned up. Was that bushcraft shelter still there?

Hi! Enjoyed your video! I was curious what canoe you were paddling?
@schultzoutdoors87992 жыл бұрын
Thank you. The canoe is a Swift Prospector 14 in kevlar fusion. Not cheap but an awsome boat. I have a review video up on my channel if your interested.

I didn’t know you could remove antlers from the park.
@schultzoutdoors87992 жыл бұрын
I wasn't sure about that either so I did a little research and it is legal. I think it may be frowned upon by some if you take them from a campsite or portage trail though.

By entering at #37, how were you going to do the Frost River loop?
@schultzoutdoors8799 Жыл бұрын
I wasn't. I changed my plans at the last minute because of ice and high water. I originally had a Sawbill permit entry. I did eventually do the Frost the next year out of Cross Bay. Video on my channel.
@wiseoleowl5154 Жыл бұрын
@@schultzoutdoors8799 If you had done the Frost River in 2022, you probably would have had less trouble then I did a few years ago. High water would have you helped cross the many beaver dam on the Frost.
@schultzoutdoors8799 Жыл бұрын
@waynemoureau5154 It was record high water that year which made me a bit nervous as there was a capsize on Coss Bay just a couple days before so I didn't want to risk it. When I did it this spring it was still pretty high water so I skipped most beaver dams. What time of year did you do it?
@wiseoleowl5154 Жыл бұрын
@@schultzoutdoors8799 We do all our trip in September the weekend after Labor Day. No bugs and less people. I did the Frost River in 2013.
