Raoul, thank you so much for putting on this class. Priit and Wim has videos on this also, but this video has step-by-step details that are much easier to follow!

Raoul this was a great class! The content was principal-based, which you reinforced often, and demonstrated numerous times at different angles. As is so often the case, this is much harder to replicate than it looks. That assimilation will come with additional reps and time-in-position. You have a great, easy going presentation style as an instructor. Clear spoken, humorous and comfortably paced. Best of all, again, the principle-based content is golden!!

Great stuff Raoul! I watched Priit’s stack pass video many times but you add a ton of useful details in this one that I was missing and it was costing me in training. Can’t wait to work these details tomorrow.

@@raoul7923 I worked on it a bit last night. I baited a few guys into getting closed guard during rolling and then stayed after with a buddy and did some positional sparring to work a bit more. I concentrated on killing the hips details you show and they made a big difference. I wasn't getting arm barred a ton but I was losing control when guys would go for the arm bar and end up in scrambles that I didn't want. Shutting the hips down by pinching the knee and elbow really stopped their ability to swing and I was able to continue my stack and get the pass a few times. I need more time with it obviously but it was a good start. What is the pass you end up hitting most? I am having the most success hunting for the "old school" pass trapping the arm under his back with far hand but I need to work on some other passes.

@@kogrady2409 hey man, good details here! Did you have any trouble doing this pass to people bigger and stronger than you? I keep failing to pass those guys (they would just extend their hips to keep me away)

@@willgunawan4232 Not really but I haven't tried it with anyone that has a BIG strength and weight advantage on me. A few guys with maybe 25-30lbs on me that have been able to stretch me out if I don't grab the head fast enough but that's really the key to prevent that. If you get them in that can opener position it really takes the strength out of their hips. I don't usually roll using the painful stuff but if a bigger stronger guy is going to use strength to bully me around I will try and make things a bit more uncomfortable for them. Head goes into the chin/jaw and I'll crank the collar tie to try and take away that strength advantage. The few times I have been stretched out I was able to force a knee inside because that stretching by them opens up some space and I immediately forced half guard and went for the body lock. Not really sure how its going to work against a guy with 100lbs on me. We have a few of them at my gym so we'll see!

Why would the guard player reach under the leg? And why would the guard player not hip up in the air for posture to not get stacked, and for distance management?
@raoulaudhoe6363
@raoulaudhoe6363 2 жыл бұрын
they can reach under......and enter kguard + leglocks. hip up in the air is possible and a smart thing to do. the way we click on the arms and keep driving forward then makes it a war of attrition where gravity is on our side.
