Great session . What canal was that. It looked a bit like my local wyrley and essington but the bridge didn't look familiar. I always come away with learning something new from your videos. So more canal videos please. How about a session for tench on the curly wyrley when it warms up a bit.

Russell Jones it sure is the curly wyrley mate in Walsall wood. We will be doing one on tench fishing in the next 6 weeks or so. Thanks for watching

The Daw end branch.. I tend to stick to the Pelsall/Brownhills end or more usually the extension canal by the boat yard. Couple of questions I noted you use puller bungs not side puller any reason? I'm quite fond of roller pullers for everything but super heavy margin work You bròke down and explained the tackle you used quite carefully but didn't mention which elastics you used and the reasoning behind them. I noted a fairly short line between float and tip on the caster line but have found a longer line and backshot work well especially in very clear water like you encountered. Perhaps a grey coloured top kit might work. As I said great work.

Russell Jones theres no difference between a puller bung or side puller so it doesn't really bother me what I use. The elastic is a Preston 5 slip which is soft enough to not bump roach but also gives me a good chance of landing any bonus bream or tench as you will often hook these fish on casters. If I was fishing up the shelf in shallower water I would try and keep a longer line between pole float and pole tip but as you can see I was fishing down the deepest part of the canal which is 6ft deep so 1ft of line was more than enough.

Not bad at all, it´s the way we fish in Holland on canals, a lot of Roach. It´s a more technical way to fish, but with the result!

Great video Rikki. Do you fish caster a couple of inches overdepth generally, or does it depend?
