Spring Decks, Reading Ideas and Books

It's so easy to get caught up in spiritual consumerism. The need for more more more, but buying more tarot, oracle, crystals, etc is not fulfilling us spiritually...it's just trying to fill a void we have that just can't be filled. This is something I have been really looking within myself about lately as well. I am really appreciating these ideas and your videos as of late. 🌼🌿🌸

​@@TarotandWitchery I've recently watched some of your videos about over buying of tarot decks and it's something I've been sitting with as well. I think what makes it particularly difficult is when the entire spiritual industry and sadly New age spirituality has become a billion dollar year industry that preys on us and our fomo and desires of wanting. Even down to crystals, journals and water bottles. Because we need new age water bottles with a crystal inside.... no judgements if that's what people buy but is that what will fulfill us in the long term? If the answer is yes, then absolutely buy it. But if the answer is no...these things are just filling up empty spaces then probably not a good idea. Until more recently, I had 2 tarot decks and 1 oracle deck for the majority of my life. And it has escalated quickly in the last few years because of youtube and feeling like I need to keep up. Yes! you said it...sitting with ourselves. Our high tech world doesn't allow us to sit with ourselves anymore. It's almost impossible to do a meditation or a tarot reading without a notification interruption of some kind. I always make sure to put my phone on do not disturb but sometimes notifications come through anyways. And I truly can't stand it. I know I don't have all the answers but this is the stuff I am thinking about and trying to work on, on a daily basis in my spiritual practice and tarot work. I appreciate your content. This video has really inspired me. I have just been wanting new decks which doesn't encourage me to use the ones I have and love. But you talking about mixing up the books really inspired me✨✨✨ So I did that today...I pulled out my tarot books and little white books...And then I pulled out The Fool from a quite a few of the decks I already own. And started doing some really deep extensive diving into The Fool. And it has been a really beautiful experience, including journaling, meditating and pathworking. ✨ I plan to do this with each card,...it will be time consuming.. but so is sitting the computer looking at new decks! lol Many thanks for the beautiful inspiration! 💜

Your right about “we have enough” I will concentrate on what I have . Being in the southern hemisphere I’m now looking at Autumn and Winter readings . Thanks for the “thoughts” on what we already have. Even though we don’t have squirrels , I feel I have gathered what I need for Winter and I’m bunkering down! Its funny but I look at a deck and know I’m going to be happy with it . Still struggling with tarot but really enjoy oracle , but I will continue to learn . Thanks

It’s not a corruption, it’s just marketing, and it happens in every segment of the economy, to influence people to buy stuff. In TarotTube land, it is publishers/creators supplying decks to influencers “for review” which are always positive. The funny part is these influencers bristle at the term “advertising” or “informercial” because they are providing a service to the community. It takes a concerted effort go against this and tell ourselves that we already have enough and we don’t need another one. Mary Grace in one of her videos on the subject talked about us being under a spell. Yes, we are. What else is a spell but a bunch of words and images to influence our behaviour. That’s marketing right there.

Well said! To each there own. I personally feel like the spell has broken for me... I'm loving getting to know my decks better. Still, I have the new Seasons of the Witch pre-ordered (arriving before Mabon), and I also have the Witch's Apothecary Oracle heading my way, so I'm not without my vices!

As I was making my coffee this morning I thought, "I hope April does a video on what she's working with." And there you are! Lol. I love all the inspiring ideas. This spring I'm working with Lili White and Forhaxa as my more challenging decks -- these decks stretch me in different ways when I read with them. Also working with the Faerie Tarot, Tarot of the Owls (my cute yet accurate deck), and at the moment I've been doing some work with Tarot de St. Croix. I'm getting back into novels so not much happening with tarot books per se, however I recommend Sasha Graham's "The Magic of Tarot: Your Guide to Intuitive Readings, Rituals, and Spells." Great source. Btw, I don't think I made that observation about the keywords on the Avalon Oracle -- credit goes to someone else. Thank you so much for sharing, April.

I love the Forhaxa, but it is its own flavor. Sounds like you have a good mix of decks. A good variety keeps it challenging

So...I bought the tarot of transformation before you said not to buy any decks and use what we have. I couldn't help it! It is so beautiful! I don't know if it comes with the book or not.
