Spring Fishing for Native Brook Trout on Allagash Lake | The Paddle In | Day One

We were able to make it back up to Allagash Lake to hit the tail end of the smelt run. I was blown away by this lakes beauty in the winter and was even more amazed in open water. Seeing the sun rise over the calm water as we paddled our way around the lake. The brookies were biting in the morning the touge in the afternoon.
We enjoyed every moment of this trip, even the extra trips and the bickering back and forth.

Good job! This brings memories of years gone by. Every spring Folsom's would let us know when the ice went out and we'd fly in to Johnson Pond, paddle to the lake, camp at Sandy Point, and fish the lake and stream. Brook trout, rogue, and smelt 3 meals a day. I'm almost 80 now and live far away and I don't go anymore, but the memories I'll always have.
