Canoe The Wild- The Allagash
I don't even know where to start! The Video is finally here! I am so grateful for all of your support grab some popcorn and settle in for this week long adventure down the allagash waterway!
This trip start to finish was something truly incredible and I could never have done it with out Master Guide Dave Conley owner of Canoe the Wild.
I have been trying to go on an epic canoe trip for the passed few years now and my mission was to capture Maine in a way that is rarely seen. i wanted to go to remote waterways to see the amazing wild life and a sky with out any man made light near by.
One of my biggest goals was to capture some epic moose footage and on this trip putting in the work before sunrise and after sunset I was able to see 26 moose on this trip! And with an amazing amount of luck I was one of only 3 or 4 people to ever get a permit to fly a drone in this amazing landscape which was a privilege I was extremely grateful for.
The history and the landscape the adventure and calm all in one it was amazing.
I had the chance to jump in last minute and join a group of amazing people that were on the search for adventure like myself. The group was amazing a few groups of friends one who turned 70 the day he stepped off the river and another couple of newly wedds that choose this as there honey moon. I could go on and on but instead sit back and enjoy this video.
I am truly grateful for everyone of you and strive to continue to make better content for you all. If you enjoy it please make sure to show the video some love and tell a friend. And remember Go Discover Something Awesome!!!
If you would like to experience this for yourself I can not recommend Dave enough. Go check out his facebook page Canoe the wild or his website. canoethewild.com/

Jeremy, it’s beautiful. You made us all look good. It’s an amazing thing as a River Guide to do something for 26 years and finally have someone capture it on film. I'm 22 and have been looking in to moving to Maine for some time. The Maine way of life, simplicity and appreciation of nature really drew me in. I'm from New York City, and i've felt for a while this is not the place for me. I'm really glad to have found your page here on KZbin. What an excellent video in so many ways. If I wasn't sure about moving to Maine before, I'm completely sure now. Thank you, and continue making awesome videos like this!

We live in MA, but last fall bought some land way up on the coast of maine in Whiting to camp on and use as our base to explore northern Maine, found your page from you being on Mainly outdoors, can't wait for more of your adventures that hopefully someday i can experience with my wife. take care, and maybe we'll see you someday up on the bold coast.

I love this video. Thank you so much for it! The only thing I wish was different was that it was about 8 hours longer…or maybe that I was there, learning to poll alongside Dave. Lol! The Allagash has been pulling me to it since I was about 16 years old, (yes, that’s a long time now, shhh) even when I moved away and lived out in the Arizona dessert, well, especially then I suppose. I have camped within it but I have never “done” it. I NEED to do it before my back won’t let me. Heading to the Penobscot River Corridor this week though, close but still not it. Again, thank you for this. Amazing and brought me to tears.

This video is absolutely incredible. The national geographic level production value, the footage you captured, everything about it is awesome. My jaw was already on the floor from the moose footage and then you hit me with the northern lights. Wow. I gotta ask, what camera(s) and lenses did you use besides the drone and GoPros? When I watched the night sky footage I thought that's gotta be a full frame camera but then I saw the closeup moose shots and I thought how could he carry that big of a telephoto lens on the canoe?! Amazing shots. How’d you get the shots of the moose around 3:30?

Thanks Ben I really lucked out and was the 4th person to ever get permitting to fly a drone in this area and was able to capture this with the mavic zoom the shot is much longer then in here I did a drop shot from 400 feet very slowly not to scare her as she was getting out of the water and by the time i brought it from 800 ft out and 400 ft high she was stepping out of the water and was very curious by the noise instead of afraid. When filming moose everything has to be super slow and the time of year will also determine there behavior. To say I was excited to be able to grab this shot would be an understatement lol.

Jeremy T. Grant that’s amazing! I’d be stoked too haha. Anything I should be aware of besides the obvious for flying a drone in Maine. Obviously follow all FAA guidance (I’m a licensed drone pilot). It would be great to fly in mountains etc. how did you go about permission in this area you shot? Thanks! Will be going through more of your videos these next few days haha

@@BenKleinCreates Maines a pretty awesoe spot to fly yeah pay attention to FAA regs and when you are in the mountains and lakes keep close eye and ear for float planes this time of year they are every where and they fly really low. This spot took awhile to get permission and came down to getting my work in front of the right people way in advice and submitting paperwork and all of that fun stuff. But most areas are open minus state and national parks a preserves You will have no shortage of epic spots to fly that is for sure!!!! Also when your in heavy traffic spots people are really polarized on drones they either love them or hate them so be prepared for that which I'm sure you deal with other places as well.

Hi Jeremy, this video is beautiful . I noticed you used drone on this video, what is the policy of using drone on The Allagash River, I am going there in September to canoe with Canoe the wild for one week?

You are going to have a blast!! I had to get special permits and permission to fly on the Allagash with the drone. It takes a bit of work to get but was worth it.

Hi @@JeremyTGrant, thanks for replying. Please can you post a link to a website I can request a permission or who can i request a permission? I'm coming from GA

@@mauricemarcus6885 go to the Allagash wilderness waterway and you need to contact there office and if they are interested in giving a permit they will let you know. It is very hard to get unless they see value for the waterway in the project you are trying to capture. To my knowledge they have only given out 3 permits so have a project pitch ready when you reach out

Who did you contact to get permission to fly your drone in the Allagash? And what was the lead time. I'm looking to do a trip later this year and would love to get some drone shots.

It's a fantastic trip. The guy who I got the permit from has retired so I am not sure who your contact would be to get a permit anymore. I also know they are really picky about giving them out. But try and reach out to the folks that manage the waterway and if you are making a film that will help the area and are willing to donate your drone footage to them after they are willing to help

Beautiful. The only thing I wish that he did not talk all the way through it. I would have loved to have heard more of the sounds of nature. I don't need music in the background. The sounds of nature would have been awesome.
