Those beautiful dogs lying on the bridge give an elegant look to your garden! I love the beautiful flowers on brunnera so airy. Why do they call it skunk cabbage? Does it smell?
@TheImpatientGardener3 жыл бұрын
If you step on it when it's flowering (which is the first thing it does), it does smell a little skunky. It's pollinated by beetles I think (the flowers lay on the ground) so I think that odor helps attract pollinators.

Holy cow, your native bed/creek area is lovely - Marsh marigolds and mayapples oh my. I have 3 acres in zone 5, northern Illinois so follow your page because we have many of the same issues. I've been restoring the land for 3 years, tearing out honeysuckle and buckthorn and restoring with native trees and ephemerals. We have a 30x30 ft organic veg and berry garden. So this video is inspiring. Your dogs! I have Great Pyrenees. My dogs have continually driven off the deer so they've gone elsewhere and stay away. Same for the coyotes. If our dogs met they'd be the biggest set of dominos. Lol. Thanks for all you do Erin.

Hello from Australia, loving this absolutely beautiful part of your garden. Beautiful! The natives are some of my favorites. You really NEED a sculpture in the new garden on top of that tree stump! When I started my garden 30 years ago, my mother brought her experienced gardener friend to come see it. Her only comment after the tour was “needs some statuary”. I thought she was incredibly rude, but she was right! I’ve since fixed that!

There were ostrich ferns in my garden when we moved into our house. They were only about a foot and a half tall. A few years later they were towering at 4 to 5 feet tall and spreading vigorously. I love how they look in the springtime when the fronds are unfurling, especially when the evening light hits them from the side. By August they look very tired and are not longer attractive.
@ginafriend16903 жыл бұрын
6-7' on your ferns? W👁W!! I have them, love them myself but don't have to that extent nor height! Wild native is beautiful! This spring is crazy. I'm so over the tease, as today it's back to gray sky, rain and chilly. My hummingbirds want nothing to do with this weather, as myself 😏

Oddly, this may be my favorite of your videos. (Even without all the other blooms.) I feel the same way about fiddleheads and bluebells. Unfortunately, I moved from a house with both in large amounts. I so miss the mass effect. I brought some with me to the new house, and they are finally spreading. (Happy dance!) I'm looking forward to seeing the progress on your new garden. Gardener, dog mom, wine lover, and lake lover - what a great combo!! Kindred spirits!
