I think you're better off pulling that plant out to let your peppers grow better. You could still plant some small flowers along there such as marigolds which won't take over the space too much. Just my thoughts 🙂

Hi Evelyn - thanks for ordering the spring garden collection - it's definitely one of my fav's! All the varieties can be interplanted if you like, but tomatoes and basil make good companions. And I like to plant the lettuce at the base of tomato plants where it will get some shade. Have fun planting your garden!

California poppies are the gift that keeps on giving! The seed pods explode and the seeds self-germinate everywhere and keep coming back again and again. The bumblebees LOVE them. I would have never guessed that octopus stem is kale and that they could be cut like that and come back!

I love the idea about folding the smart pot down for the tomato and then raising and filling it as the plant grows. Brilliant!! The white flower in the pepper bed is a Vinca. Sounds like you might want to pull it out and make way for more peppers but if you do want to keep it for interest, just prune it way back like the peppers and it will bush out again. I have the same only purple. Great video as always. :)

Hi CaliKim and Camera Guy, your gardening and efforts are splendid! I too can’t say goodbye to a blooming plant. I would take that large vinca and compost 90% of it but take a small crown cutting to grow in a container as an accent plant. It will reinvigorate, bloom, be controlled and keep the memory alive. 🌱🌸

Your nasturtium are edible and have a peppery taste. They're wonderful in salads. The leaves and petals of nasturtium are extremely nutritious as they contain vitamin C and iron. The leaves also have antibiotic properties which are at their most effective just before the plant flowers. I'd love to be able to grow perennial sage. It has so so many health benefits. Too many to list here, but google it and you'll see what a fantastic plant you have in your back yard. I dry the leaves and use them all winter for a variety of health remedies as well as flavor in my smoothie and turmeric tea

Have been noticing how your flowers were advancing thru your earlier videos Kim. Real nice seeing the nasturtiums taking off as they have. Here while the nights have been above freezing, more or less, still too early to plant much outside. Good time to finish the clean up process as they ground is setting nicely. Have lost track of how many chili buds I have picked off inside, directing plant energy to growth still. Hope you and Camera Guy both have a wonderful Easter Weekend! -Bob...

Another lovely video as always! I'm so excited about planting cherry tomatoes, the varieties I'll be trying are "sweetie" and "tiny Tim" ;) I totally feel the same way about pulling flowers, its hard to pull them when they look good . . . Just curious, down in California do you grow Columbine's? In Manitoba, it's typically a shade loving plant and comes in several color varieties. Also, I've recently learned about sunpatiens and a plant called vinca , not sure if a person can buy these by seed or only by plant but they're wonderful in areas that have lots of sun and next to no shade. I recently posted on instagram about transplanting tomatoes, they smell so good already :) Looking forward to following along as the spring/summer progress.

2019 must be the year for nasturtiums. I never had much luck, which is sad because I absolutely love them and would love lots all over the place like you have. I don’t understand how either, since I did nothing different 🤷🏻‍♀️ lol

Hello Lisa, sugar snaps ARE amazing right off the vine, mine don't often make it to the house! When they do make their way to the kitchen, I store them in the fridge in between layers of paper towels. This absorbs excess moisture and helps the last longer. However, they are best eaten asap, as the sugars deteriorate as soon as they are picked. Thanks for watching!
