@@jenkitching43 It's an enclosure created with four seven foot fence posts pounded into the ground seven feet apart to make a square. 4 2"x1" wood cross bars in between each side on the tops - connecting to the posts and each other with fence wire wrapped around them. Bug netting covering the whole thing and connected to the wood with screws and washers and connected to the metal fence posts with binder clips. The door is just one side that you open by removing a few binder clips.

Howdy, Dan!👋 It's nice to see you looking so well. You have some really nice looking beet seedlings.👍 I'm looking forward to your pumpkin and squash harvests.😃 The peach tree I root pruned...grown from seed...is covered in fruit.💃 I have tomatoes, okra, and peppers coming on. We harvested potatoes about a week ago. My popcorn is 2 feet tall. I'm in Central Texas, zone 8b or 9a now. We are seeing the low 80s for highs...have been in the upper 80s and low 90s a few times.

Louisiana, USA, Zone 8B. I lost all my tomatoes, eggplants and most of the peppers due to a sudden cold spell. I’ve started over. The good things are potatoes, grapes, broad beans, squash (pumpkin, Blue Hubbard, butternut). Brassicas are fantastic. Several peas were pinched by something but I’ve started over for that too. Regenerating everything as needed. We are now getting temperatures in the 80°+F (26.7°+C) and 90°+F (32.2°+C) already. It’s been a weird Spring.

My Wild Cloudberry is shooting up like I’ve never seen any plant it’s put on at least 10 inches in hight already, and many more stems are growing from near the base of the main stem, that like all my plants is growing in a big tub. My Wild Current is doing almost as well, my grape vine is springing into action, all my other previously planted fruit plants are doing well. Blueberry, Dwarf Pear, my Kiwi isn’t doing as well as the others but isn’t bad. The Wild Dewberry is self propagating everywhere linking some of my tubs and pots together( I need to find a home for those ones), this year I’ve added Strawberries that I got from our community Forest Garden. Also this year I’m growing a Watermelon, some 🌶️, a Pumpkin, some Garlic that I’ve been growing over winter in a small pot on my window seal, some Peppers, 1 Broad Bean that I am going to let grow on my balcony as in previous years they have always acted as Blackfly magnets so keeping it in a separate place. Lastly I found an old sweet potato and some pieces of New potato growing in my compost bin that I bunged into a big tub together as an experiment, and growing some Wild Flowers in my fruit plant tubs and some Sunflowers in separate tubs. That’s about the limit of what I can squeeze into the approx 10x3 feet space I have, although next year I will grow more on my balcony. This year we have planted several more fruit trees & shrubs, some herbs etc on our community Forest Garden. Don’t you just love spring when everything is bursting into life again! ✊🏽🌻🌎

Good job Dan 😊 I’m lacking a lot of motivation this year, I think it’s a combination of so much wet weather here ( clay soil ) and just general age catching up with me HOWEVER, I’m bringing on a cracking crop of dandelions and nettles 😂 . Luckily, I planted some garlic last Autumn so at least I have that 😂. Nevertheless I shall enjoy your ramblings where you are 😉😊

Very good everything looks great , Spring has Sprung! My seed packets I put into zip lock baggie and put into my freezer. Usually works great where there is a moisture droplet or SMALLER in every seed. So outdated store bought seeds have lost that moisture to start its life cycle. If freeze seeds obvious the moisture freezes and in most planting zones that is nature's cycle. Growth , harvest , then seeds, and winter freeze. I am sure you know all of this. But was on my mind and thought I would share it

West London location - When it got warmer and i thought winter was finally over, I transplanted into pots in garden - spinach, beetroot, peas, mint. pepper, tomatoes..Then its suddenly gone very cold, rains with hailstones, over a few days now.... so all are struggling and also soggy wet soil. Have major problem of slugs and thinking what i can do this summer. Not a great start so far for the weekend part time gardener!

Hi all I'm growing some microgreens in the house and bananas, luffas and have just started some squash. The weather is getting a bit better so the seeds will be out again soon. I unfortunately had to give up my allotment last summer and this year is going to be vertical growing and hopefully it works out. I really miss it but I am going to make the most of the garden, carrots, squash, beans, and anything I can eat really... Enjoy your videos

Oh yes they certainly help. Another option could be to cover them in the Winter months with polythene if they won't allow a polytunnel. I personally though would keep trying for the polytunnel!

Veg I have had in the ground since Autumn, and which I’m just starting to eat from: Spinach, Rocket, Broccolli Raab, Spring Onions x 3 varieties. I also have autumn sown onions x 4 varieties, shallots, and garlic x 3 varieties. I also have 5 varieties of carrots planted Feb and March that have seen their first thinning, some Durham Early Cabbages which have been in the ground a month or two and are doing good, 3 varieties of peas from guttering, all doing fine in the ground. I have some cauliflowers planted out back in March, with some delistem broccolis in the hire, green and purple. I have a bed of lettuce and radish, doing ok but so slow as in the shade I think. 3 varieties of Brussels sprouts, Evesham special is doing best. I have 3 types of chard out very young, and 3 types of beetroot, turnips. some Pak Choi and Broad Beans. I also have some tomatoes, chillies and cucumbers undercover but this is requiring heat which is not ideal. I’ll sow them later next year lol Indoors I have started courgettes, melons, more cucumbers, lots of herbs and leafy greens and I sowed my sweetcorn and beans yesterday. I also have my first and second earlies outside in containers but covering with fleece if forecast 4 or below. I’m in South Yorkshire and my last frost date is 1st - 10th May. Best of luck to all this Spring, it’s my first year of growing and Sod’s Law would give us the longest winter I can remember and the wettest spring! Grrr! :-)

Oh man, Thanks mate; was going to skip the garden this year but these videos always motivate me. One question: Last year i was growing brussel sprouts for the firs time, but every single sprout ended up infested with tiny black bugs (aphids I assume). Is there an easy way to mitigate this?

Possibly flea beetles rather than aphids. The flea beetles were bad last year, infested my broccoli and rocket. They can destroy your crops before you realise they have arrived.

I have an early flowering plum in my garden (it flowers in late January and February in Lancashire). It has large (4cm diameter) cherry shaped yellow plums in August. Please can you identify this plum and advise what other plums flower at the same time of year to ensure a better fruit production. Thank you in anticipation.

Spring has been awful this year, March was a washout, April has been sunny at times but often with a cold north wind making it feel more like winter than spring. I can't remember a worse spring. By now I normally have lots of seedlings out in the glasshouse, but instead they're all indoors because the nights are too cold. I'm really fed up with the weather and I feel really sorry for farmers, they are really struggling with these conditions. Looking at the forecast it seems like we have another few cold nights before it gets milder... then more rain is coming. We deserve a great summer to compensate - can someone with the right contacts put in a good word please? Meanwhile, I keep rotating my seedlings... groundhog day.
