Love your ideas! Re your living room, I know you love the built in sofa, but I find it takes too much space and is always in the way. I'd take it out for sure. It will definitely make the room feel more spacious. We are in Ontario, Canada, so still very wintery here - temps between 0-10F most days and lots of snow. It's been a very long winter and I can't wait for spring to come!

Good morning Lauren! I'm always excited to watch a new video! Concerning your living room (although beautiful) it seems to have a lot of furniture which makes it feel crowded. I know that you love the built in couch in front of the window but I might remove that and put the 2 chairs there instead. I would definitely try to persuade your husband to just try the TV on the wall. Mine is above my fireplace and I love it, plus it frees up more space. I live in Southern Illinois and we always say if you don't like the weather here, just wait a few minutes and it will change. Freezing rain/sleet last week, supposed to be 67 this Wednesday. For the living room, I would start by removing the built in couch and keep the two chairs with a small table between them. There is so much furniture in the room that the eye has no place to rest. If the built in can't be taken out then the other couch should go and you could put the chairs there. Again, I would add a little round drink table between the chairs.

I think I would definitely take out that built in sofa. It takes up a lot of space, and move those two chairs with the round end table in front of the window. It will open up the room so much. 👍

You have such nice built in features in the home, the bench in the foyer and the couch in the living room. Why put a desk in front of the bench? Or chairs in front of that comfy looking couch? I know you said you use those chairs and others have already mentioned removing the chairs. Maybe if the TV was over the fireplace on the wall you could remove the dresser it's currently in, and arrange it to keep the chairs somewhere else in the room. Love the florals on the porch, do you remember where you found them?

I love that you and your husband play dominoes together. It's something that I end up doing with my mom and sisters whenever we have family get togethers. Hi Lauren, The porch looks very pretty love the tall blue white containers and flowers.... Love your orchids they are so pretty, I have a couple as well . I think your built in sofa in front of the bay window makes the room to crowded, I would definitely remove it and slide those pretty chairs back in front of the bay window with a table in the middle. Or switch those chairs out and bring the bigger ones from the other side over to the window with some pretty pillows since you will have more space there. That will open up the space and look bigger. I don't like tvs hanging on the wall either. I like that the TV is hidden in that cabinet, I would just place the cabinet angled in that corner for a good flow. Whatever you decide to do I'm sure it will look really nice. You have very nice decor style ! Good luck !

I do agree about the frame TV above the mantle. It could be made to look like a beautiful piece of art with the right frame. It’s hard to furnish a multi-functional space and have seating for 6 people to comfortably play games and for occasional TV watching. The current TV unit is beautiful but it is large and the two chairs opposite the large window seem a little over scale in the space, so could be swapped out for something smaller. Alternatively, you could ask less of the space and reserve movie watching for the basement. Hope you can reach a practical compromise both you and your husband are happy with 😊

I do love your living room just how it is. It's homey & has interesting details throughout, kind of like each piece is telling a story of your family & home. I would hang the tv, it frees up space & also gives a better look to a room. I don't have a porch, sadly, so to me yours is goals ☺️ Thank you for the planner! I'm all over the place lately, I've been adjusting to moving my parents into my home & a planner is something I DEFINITELY need in my life! Your recipes are delicious & my husband & I enjoy trying new recipes in the kitchen.. I think I would take down the window seat (Couch) I feel it takes away from the beautiful window, I would mount the TV if that is where you and the family set and watch TV. I would get a sleek couchI with wood details to keep the warm feeling. keep the Chairs add some color to them with pillows to bring the art work in. It is a beautiful home maybe just scale down the furniture in that room. Where did you get the pillows you used on the porch. Maybe one day you could go through the house and show us all the great art work I am looking for art work for my home on a budget. I love all the recipes you make they are really good.

Hi I'm from Michigan and between fall and summer 😁 are winter we can have 60 degree temps And the same week it can get 40 degrees and lower temperature so by end of it we are sooo ready for spring & summer 😁 again But I wouldn't have it any other way l LOVE MY STATE So for your decorations each holiday really are appreciated and all that you shared have been a blessing to me Thank you for your service.LOVE, PEACE AND JOY!!

I am in NJ and it’s 35 and sunny. I am planning to redo my living room as well. I figured I would remove everything in the room (sofa and chairs need to be replaced anyway) and almost start from scratch. Get what I know I want, place them accordingly, and build from there.

Your porch looks so inviting. The food looks yummy. You are a brave soul putting the desk in the middle of the entry way with the vase on top, having cats. That vase would do good to make it through the day with our cats. Our cats are feral cats that adopted us. I think the planners look nice, I really should us something like that. The living room has too many chairs. I know how you feel about the shape of it. I have the same problem. I haven't found a solution either. TVs are always a problem. It is a shame it isn't hidden in your fireplace cabinet, like some are.

I agree with both of you. I agree with your husband in that I would rather have the cabinet to cover the tv over putting it on the wall. But I think I would take it a step further and just take the tv from that room entirely. I would watch tv downstairs on your big fluffy couch. We sorta struggle with the same thing you do with there being no walls due to attachment to other rooms or windows/fireplace, so there are only so many places for furniture placement. I would say you could put the tv on the wall opposite the entry wall and sit on the couch where it is now, but that leaves no place for the fireplace. So if you don't want to lose the fireplace OR the tv.. :) then I would either make the built in permanent seating area or get a second couch. Then the kids could either use a little pouf or sit on the rug/floor if the 6 of you didn't fit on the couch. We always chose to watch tv from the floor more often when we were kids anyway. :) Or technically it seems they could sit on the ottoman. Or if you decided you could get two matching couches and donate the one you have. It's hard when there are numerous options. Easiest I think would be option 1. Lose the TV in that room entirely.

She works at a Private School and yes the parent's are paying big money and some just do not care enough to help their children in school. Hi Lauren!! Okay, I am actually loving your living room right now with the paired-down decor. The room is beautiful and now we can appreciate the beautiful pictures on the walls and the other decor and enjoy that beautiful window. You had mentioned that this is likely your last year in the house. I can't remember if you were going to sell it or rent it. If you are going to rent it as a vrbo I would consider putting the tv on a wall or stand. If you are selling then you don't have to worry as much about potential renters. You can do whatever makes you happy for your family!!

I always enjoy your videos, esp your cooking ones so thank you! I just thought of an idea about your kids' school things to save you some time. When I used to teach, our students would be responsible for all their own items in our classroom -- hanging up their jackets, packing up and unpacking their backpacks, packing up and unpacking their lunch boxes, etc. Since your children are likely already doing this at school, why not set the expectation that they do this at home, as well? Once they do it a few times (ok, maybe a few more times!) it'll become another habit for them. It teaches them more responsibility, as well as freeing up some time for you.

Your home is Gorgeous ❤️ Put your flowers on the window sill.. to accentuate that window.. your desk is not right for that little space it takes away from your seating area.. just punch it up with color and pattern using pillows.. lol. You Have the pillows!! ❤️U need a smaller table under the window plus it will cover up the outlet..and give u simplicity. She’s Victorian and you have to dress her as such .. modern and Victorian just don’t meld . Wonderful, you created the planner, looks great. Love the porch, its bright with the white flowers. Simple and very pretty for spring. Its difficult to say how to rearrange the living room. I'm not a fan of mounting the tv on the wall but with a small space that may be a solution to make more floor space. I love the chairs but maybe putting two in another room or place will open the space up. All you can do is try that, see how you and your husband like it. Thanks for another recipe. Hi Lauren, I'm in Illinois and today it's around 50 degrees. I'm painting my living room , yeah! Then moving on to my kitchen. And I'm planning on having Easter at my home,I'm doing a brunch and getting ready for my craft show in a few weeks,alot going on.
