Good morning, Soleil! So good to see you! I miss your more frequent videos. I’m so ready to be in full swing of spring gardening! We’re in the 60’s most days in Colorado now and things are starting to wake up. The roses have tiny little buds on them. So do our trees. Now we pray for warmer weather at night. It still gets in the 20’s. Loving the birds and chimes! Spring is almost upon us! Yay!🤗🤗🌺🌻🦩🌷💐

Birds singing, wind chimes chiming and a task in the garden completed. That's a win-win. Thank you.

I love the gentle sound of your wind chime going in the breeze and hearing the birds too. I'm getting out in the garden doing similar small tasks and I'm so ready for spring here in NH.

I love Yews for evergreen winter interest...there are some small shrub types....and love their red berries in the winter and lovely dark green presence with small needles.

After prune and clean, your garden looks nice and neat! For the incredible hydrangea, I tried prune in different way in post 10 year, found no much different for blooming season. cutting them back to the ground is the easiest way for my 50 plants

Wow, I would probably do the same with that many!!

About your green shed, I always enjoy evergreens for winter interest. A purple flowering shrub would look lovely against the green shed. Rhododendrons would serve both purposes. Or for something completely different, how about two topiaries flanking the door? Maybe Lavender or lollipop roses with under planting? Have you been having a mild winter this year in MI and did your hardiness zone change? Here in MN, it's been CRAZY MILD with more temps in the 50's (and some days nearly reaching 70!) than cold snaps nearing zero for highs. I bumped up to a zone 5 from 4 in a small microclimate. It makes me more courageous to try something new like Buddleia and Heather in protected locations.

I can’t believe how warm it is for March. My bulbs are all up out of the ground… I think we may have turned the corner on any significant snow, but I wouldn’t be surprised if we get an ice storm this year. I remember one that came like 15-ish years ago and it was harsh! -6A Metro Detroit

@@Suburbanoasis Well we did end up getting some over here, too! I’d call it more like a dusting. It did stick, but it’s already mostly melted by 2PM! Woo!

I am about to go forth and prune my panicle hydrangeas. Lots of editing in my garden this year. I'm going for easier maintenance. I'm always inspired by your garden and how pristine it is. Happy spring! Zone 7B

Hello ! I am a new subscriber ❤ My husband purchased two fruit cocktail trees for my birthday last year and they survived the winter tucked away in their containers outside. But I want to give them their debut in my yard. They are about three feet high and healthy. My yard had lots of clay, and my apple tree has survived for ten years in the same area. Do you have suggestions how to give them the best start? Thanks in advance for your advice!
@Suburbanoasis9 ай бұрын
Ensure they have plenty of sun and plant with the trunk flare above ground level. No need to amend the soil, but break it up good before replacing around the base. Good luck!!

INTERESTING , HOW FAR FROM THE MOTHER PLANT DO TYOU PULL THE STEMS ? THAT COULD HELP WITH PROPAGATION.
@Suburbanoasis10 ай бұрын
You can just look for where the stems come out of the ground several inches away from the main clump

I am thoroughly confused about my limelight hydrangeas! This is season 3. They looked okay (?) the season I planted them. At the beginning of last season, they were very green, bud, no buds. I sent a pic to our extension. They said the plants looked like the blooms were cut off too soon, and the soil appeared too dry. I let them be since last season! No pruning or anything! We've (SC) had a rainy, warm winter. Yesterday, I put Plant-Tone around their drip line. I am also planning to send a soil sample to the extension in a few weeks. I am hoping for a better outcome this season! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Sometimes it can take a couple of years for blooms to really get going, but also perhaps this plant is in too much shade to bloom, is that possible? Blooms also may not form if it is too dry because the plant is saving energy. Hope this year is better for you and if not, I would try moving it.

@Suburbanoasis Thank you! I forgot to mention they are limelights. I've subsequently installed drip irrigation in their location as well. I created the garden they're in specifically to highlight them! I am hoping they perform better this season. Thanks again! Great content!
