For anyone who is interested, you can buy/rent a spring compressor kit and just throw the clamps on the spring, drop the axle, put in spacer, jack-up axle, remove clamps, done. No sense in taking everything apart if you are just putting the same springs back in.

Love your Jeep man!! Question for ya...so the only thing you unhooked was the shock and sway bar link? I’ve seen other videos installing a budget boost or even a 2.5” lift where they had you take unhook the track bar, shocks, swaybar links and seems like a ton more stuff!! If the only things I have to unhook are the shocks and links, shit, I can do that, I just never felt comfortable unhooking all the other stuff
@JKGearandGadgets6 жыл бұрын
It depends what else comes in the kit. If the kit comes with a track bar bracket and other stuff then naturally it has to come off haha. But even then it’s still a pretty simple job!
@mikecal99856 жыл бұрын
Right, the kit I’m looking at is the Rancho 2” sport kit. Comes with four springs and shocks. It’s pretty much just a leveling kit, lifts the front 2” and the rear 3/4”. Shops around here want $3-400 to install.
@JKGearandGadgets6 жыл бұрын
Don’t bother paying! Save the money and do it yourself, 400$ can go towards a lot of other upgrades haha. Learning to install and wrench on your jeep is one of the best things you can do, you’ll be more comfortable with mods and learn a lot more in the process opposed to paying shops to install parts

Just had a full suspension lift put on. It’s a 4” lift and I’m rubbing pretty bad with the new tires. Can I put a inch or two spacer to help with rubbing ?
@mariosalazar8748Ай бұрын
I just got a 4inch lift 3 months ago and it just needs an inch spring spacer upfront to sit level. Will my drive angles and geometry be okay after I install them? Or would I need to get my control arms re adjusted? Thanks in advance

Did you do this with just off at a time or did you take both front wheels off at the same time (and then both rear)?
@CRazy.CAnucK..5 жыл бұрын
Hey Ben love your videos! Maybe you can help, I noticed your adjustable control arms. I went ahead and got my over the weekend and looking to install them. My question is can I use the same method taking off my springs/shocks to add and make my adjustments on the control arms or is there an easier way? I went through all your vids I didn't see anything on installing control arms. Thanks in advance
@JKGearandGadgets5 жыл бұрын
I don’t think I’m tracking. Are you just trying to install the control arms? If so you don’t need to remove the springs for that. Just adjust the arms to equal length, install one at a time, and then make sure the jam nut on the arm is very tight.
@CRazy.CAnucK..5 жыл бұрын
@@JKGearandGadgets Ya sorry about that lol... I'm installing all 8 but my lengths are longer then my stock arms. Will I be able to line up my new adjustable arms with my new length without removing the springs/shocks? I assume my axles will need to be pushed out at the front and rear a bit. Hope that makes a bit more sense lol.
@JKGearandGadgets5 жыл бұрын
Al Stanko haha yeah it’s hard to explain over text. Do you have a lift? I don’t have any videos on installing and setting control arms. I wish I did. But you will have to adjust them according to your lift height. An easy rule of thumb is to set them just a tad longer than your oem arms. And then use the front lowers to adjust pinion angle/caster, and your rear uppers to adjust rear pinion angles. Removing the springs won’t be necessary. Measure and adjust arms on your workbench, install one at a time (remove one, install one). You can find recommend lengths on metalcloaks website under their lift kit install instructions. Even if you don’t have their control arms it will get you to a close spec of the correct lengths

Does a loss in the spring compression cause the axle to shift?
@JKGearandGadgets Жыл бұрын
The axle shifts sideways due to the trackbar. As the axle drops down, it will swing to the side. Triangle math
@NayomalWijeratne Жыл бұрын
@@JKGearandGadgets thank you! Just a quick background, my jk is bone stock with bigger tyres 285/65/17. In my mind there’s no reason for the axle to shift. I was suggested by a mechanic to install spacers for the spring to compensate for the compression loss. Is this correct?
@JKGearandGadgets Жыл бұрын
@@NayomalWijeratne Yes, if your springs have sagged below factory height then the axle will shift. Spacers will raise it back up. However, if your springs are sagging bad enough to shift the axle then you need new springs as those are most likely shot. How much is the axle shifted?
@NayomalWijeratne Жыл бұрын
@@JKGearandGadgets thank you, I’ll definitely keep in mind to replace them, as for now I need a quick fix till I get some cash to get new springs. It’s shifted about 1 inch in the front and 0.5 inch at the back. Also does a shift in the axle cause any issues to the steering box? Added stress? Drivability issues?

@JKGearandGadgets Жыл бұрын
Well it depends on how much it’s sagging. I can’t tell ya how much to level it without grabbing a measuring tape. They sell 1” spring spacers. Ton of options for various height spacers. Jack jeep up to see how much you want the front raised, measure the height, order spacer.
