Amazing colors, grace everywhere in your footages, very well 'directed'. Thanks for sharing this journey, which is inspiring. And, you know, your happiness is communicative !

The last 3 minutes along that Escalante corridor was fantastic!
@Acrossutah5 ай бұрын
Yeah, parts of the corridor really are great. Some of the crossings can be really tedious, but the sights/sounds along the way make up for it. Thanks for watching and the comment. 🌞✌

I enjoyed this vlog and especially the scenery. I never tire of seeing the beautiful scenery and wish I transport myself where you are. Your narration is very good and fits well. Thank you for taking Mr along and I will continue to join you vicariously into the beautiful Utah backcountry.

A real good flower year. Thanks.

I think it was easily the best flower display I've ever seen in Utah. Many more flowers to be featured in the upcoming episodes. Thanks for watching and the comment. 🌞✌

Great section of the hike with all those flowers blooming. The "tire"d comment will never dry rot! Thanks for another great VLOG.

Yep -- the flowers were really incredible last spring (best I've ever seen!) Haha -- thanks! At some point I will need to truly track all my corny jokes to make sure I don't re-tread too many of them! 😉 Thanks again for watching. ✌

Enjoyed your primer on quicksand. We got quite adept at spotting potential quicksand during a hike of Paria Canyon . We did have to go digging for a shoe eaten by the sand at one point. Which became a valuable lesson in what one brings as camp shoes (if you do that). A lost shoe would have meant hiking the last 20 miles in flip flops. Anyhoo, loving the trip. Thanks so much for this!
@Acrossutah5 ай бұрын
Thanks! It is pretty cool how after just a bit of experience walking along a stream like this how one instinctually knows how firm the ground is likely to be (though there's still an occasional surprise.) Losing a shoe could be very bad. Thanks again for watching and the comment. 🌞✌

I also have the Granite Gear Blaze 60. I use a pack liner, but 99% of the time I don't cover it in the rain, even in heavy rain, and it has worked great. The only issue I have experienced is that the side water bottle pockets would get a puddle in the bottom during a downpour, so I had a local tarp shop (they make gear for boats, heavy duty tents, etc.) put in a couple of holes and grommets in the bottom, so they can drain. Worked like a dream. Wow I'd love to see the desert in bloom like that! Some day...
@Acrossutah5 ай бұрын
Very cool -- thanks for sharing your technique. I noticed the big pockets collected a lot of twigs/dirt along the way for me! This was the first year I used a pack liner for the entire trip. I still had to cover my pack in the rain as I guess old habits die hard! Thanks for watching and the comment! ✌

Ahhh I just love Harris Wash. it’s a slog this year though. Brush was so bad and made for slow slow going.
@Acrossutah5 ай бұрын
Yep -- I tend to have "revisionist memory" at times and forget about the not-so-fun parts. I'm glad I had the shots of the willows to remind me what a formidable wall it can be at times (though as you likely know it never quite appears as bad on video as it is in reality!) Thanks for watching and the comment. 🌞✌

If I win the lottery I’m going to hire you as a guide for a few weeks. I’m always scared to go cross country solo. I’m slow so you would have plenty of time to film.

@10:57 those almost look like moki steps into that little cave in the wall... Can't be, right? It'd be cool to rappel into that cave and spend the night... although you'd probably get rabies from the bats that inevitably live in there
@Acrossutah5 ай бұрын
I don't think so -- but I can't say for sure. Often times things looks impossible when viewed head-on or from at a distance and I didn't size it up from closer down canyon where it might have looked more feasible. Though... I wouldn't have tried it anyway as I'm fairly adverse to anything too sketchy and some of the Moki Steps I've seen are WAY beyond my comfort level. Thanks for watching and the comment! 🌞✌
